got out today and did a little fiddling...here's where I'm at
2000 srx, stock track w/156 1.080 studs, 215 lb driver and using my garmin GPS for these numbers, not speedo!!
approx 3000 ft across a nice smooth lake with good hard pack snow surface
stock clutching, i'm getting 102, 106, and 102 mph in 3000 ft (remember this is GPS) average 32 seconds
switched to green secondary wrapped at 60 deg.
took 4 runs and got 104 mph in 29 sec, 106 in 30 sec, 110 in 32 sec, 109 in 32 sec.
the sled is hooking up great with that green spring, dangling the skis for about 500 ft..I'm very happy with it. engagement is around 4000rpm but I'm pulling to 8600 rpm fast and holding..i know this should be around 8400 (my belt may be a little worn also)
I want to keep the sled as near stock as possible and trailable, but also want to consecutively beat my buddies stock 01 srx (stock for stock its 50/50 right now when we line up..basically depends who hits the throttle first and who hooks up better)
my question is then i have a yellow/silver/yellow primary spring, what advantage/disadvantage is there to swapping out the yellow/white/yellow primary..(like higher/lower engagement, raise or lower engine rpm) should i wait till after the holidays and order some rivets?? what weight would you recommend to run with the y/s/y and (in your opinions) where am i gonna get my greatest gains ?? (first 600 ft, end of the lake...etc...)
just trying to get my head around this clutching thing with the parts i already have...thanks in advance!

Don,t change any rivets until you run a newer belt as it will really drop your rpm,s. YSY will really lower your engagement but leave your wide open throttle rpm,s the same. If you have good traction you want engagement as high as possible with out spinning. Also every surface is different. Test it & see what it likes.

just checked belt, ride height is within spec, it is OEM as well
I am spinning a little on hardpack still, but like i said, also carrying the skis for about 300-500 ft..maybe I'll give that ysy spring a try like you say, I don't want to lose that "peppy" lift the ski's feeling she's got right now though, so i thought lower engagement would = bad
also, i think 8400 rpm is where i want to be right, how much weight should i order?? (currently running close to 8600rpm)

I would leave it as is. The 00-02 peaks hp is at 8500 rpm & the extra 100 rpm will give you a little more on top on a real long run & not hurt anything.

X2...It sounds like one strong running stock SRX! A lot of people would be very surprised[+ maybe dissapointed] if they ran their sleds on the"Lie Detector"[GPS]. The Dream metre" is just that!

these new GPS systems for vehicles are great tuning devices!! i just stuck the bracket that suction cups to your windshield on your car right onto the speedo and used the trip computer to track everything, distance, top speed, moving time...etc..the only flaw is you add a few seconds to moving time while on the brake at the end of your run. what i did was count how long it took me to come to a complete stop...one thousand one, two...etc, about 3-4 seconds and deducted that from the moving time...
the main reason for posting the thread was i wanted to see if there were anymore gains by adding the ysy spring, and I'm sure i can gain a little here and there with a lot more fiddling and $$$$ but bottom line is..... I'm really happy with the way it hooks up, all the way through to top end so ya.....i think untill I can purchase a multi angle helix its gonna stay just like that!!
the green secondary at 60 deg. seemed to make alot of difference for such an easy install...really impressed with the results..!!
