got out today and did a little fiddling...here's where I'm at
2000 srx, stock track w/156 1.080 studs, 215 lb driver and using my garmin GPS for these numbers, not speedo!!
approx 3000 ft across a nice smooth lake with good hard pack snow surface
stock clutching, i'm getting 102, 106, and 102 mph in 3000 ft (remember this is GPS) average 32 seconds
switched to green secondary wrapped at 60 deg.
took 4 runs and got 104 mph in 29 sec, 106 in 30 sec, 110 in 32 sec, 109 in 32 sec.
the sled is hooking up great with that green spring, dangling the skis for about 500 ft..I'm very happy with it. engagement is around 4000rpm but I'm pulling to 8600 rpm fast and holding..i know this should be around 8400 (my belt may be a little worn also)
I want to keep the sled as near stock as possible and trailable, but also want to consecutively beat my buddies stock 01 srx (stock for stock its 50/50 right now when we line up..basically depends who hits the throttle first and who hooks up better)
my question is then i have a yellow/silver/yellow primary spring, what advantage/disadvantage is there to swapping out the yellow/white/yellow primary..(like higher/lower engagement, raise or lower engine rpm) should i wait till after the holidays and order some rivets?? what weight would you recommend to run with the y/s/y and (in your opinions) where am i gonna get my greatest gains ?? (first 600 ft, end of the lake...etc...)
just trying to get my head around this clutching thing with the parts i already have...thanks in advance!
