Just got done cleaning my carbs on my 03 Viper Mtn. It started fine but when warm it will not idle. When i cleaned the carbs I backed the fule screw out 1 7/8 turns. Still has the little bit of old gas in the tank form last year I just started it up to get it out of the garage. Any ideas? Could it be the old gas?? Also what rpm should this sled idle at? I was thinking 1600 RPM?? Thanks.
 
Idle is 17-1800 and it probably needs a good ride with fresh fuel,make sure choke is all the way off like said above.

screws may need 2 turns out.

When you cleaned the carbs did you remove the idle curcuit jet? and cleaned both the jet and the port in threads into? If the idle curcuit is clogged the sled will run/idle when the choke is on, when you take the choke off if the sled won't idle then the idle curcuit is still clogged IMO.

Ditto. Don't know how much carb cleaning experience you have, but it's easy to miss getting the crud out of the pilots. Blow them out with air to remove any excess fuel/cleaner, and you should be able to see a nice round hole through them. If you can't, run a small wire through them, spray carb cleaner through them, then blow air to remove the fluid, and hold up to light again. I always use the above method and they are clean after one time. I've made the mistake of just blowing cleaner through them and assuming they're clean, had to remove the carbs again. I've always had to use a wire to loosen up the crud. Just did mine a week ago, you can see the crud on the end of the wire if you look real close.
 
i know alot of people say to use wire to clean out jets but im not a fan of that, because you can effect flow and there is a big bore then a tapper then a small hole and if you use a wire and clean the hole there is no telling if the bore is clear, just buy new jets and take the guessing out of it, even at wot there is fuel going through all passages not just the main jet just my opinion from what ive seen do not leave fuel in off season
