I use to own and drag race mxz 700's.They will run hard if set up coreectly.I gained 11mph in a 1/4 mile with just clutching and would was my buddies srx's but then I clutched there srx and it was no contest.
A stock mxz dosen't have a chance against you unless he knows how to tune.

Update
Was informed tonight from my stepson that his bud who just bought the 2002 MXZ700 has just blown the motor in it.I didn't even get to line him up yet.
His bud is so pissed off.He bought the sled for like $3000.Took it to a local dealer that is not to far from me,a doo dealer. They supposedly went over the sled and charged him $1300.00.They said the compression was 150 across, carbs cleaned, replaced clutch parts, suspension wheel or 2 changed..etc.They told the kid the sled was all ready to go.
Last week when they stopped by my house, said they were going to find a spot to try out the sled. They put on some 30 km's on it and went back home. Then his bud took it for a run another time, wasn't even into more then 40km's/hr thing when it went on him.The kid is a greenhorn, knows nothing. My stepson told him to always listen for noises, apparently it was making some kind of sound in the first ride.He told his bud to have it checked before he rides again, but not done. Now his bud went back to the dealer and said that they told him all was fine and this happened. They told him they want $200 for them to open up the motor to tell him what went wrong.
Well I told S.son to tell his bud..how do you know they cleaned carbs, doubt if compression really was 150 with 4000 miles on the sled.Did he check plugs.Told his bud ..how do you even know if they changed the plugs. Apparently they use a lot of young guys doing the work there.
I told S.son that something told me he was going to blow the motor. He should of bought a Yamaha, but his friend was so enticed to Ski-doo,Now he has $4300 into it now and not including a motor rebuild cost now.Now they found out that the guy who sold the Skidoo, had another sled covered up under a tarp in the garage.Found out later that the sled the seller bought was a Yamaha..glad to sell his Ski-doo.
I feel sorry for the young guy,he has 0 experience with sleds, being this was his first.I told them they will have to find out why the motor blew, and that maybe don't go back to that dealer again.I see a lot of young first time buyers have been going through this kind of a headache..no matter was brand. It is a learning experience, but he trusted the dealer and blames them for this issue..good luck, dealer can just say ..you had bad gas.I wander if they even checked the seals.Another thing they told me was the sled would start like in 2-3 pull manually or Electric start instantly. After they got the sled back from the shop,it was harder to start..go figure.Like 7 pulls manually and on the key it didn't fire up instantly.Man I would be pissed.Do dealers take advantage of a first timer sledder like this or what..
Will have to wait till he re-builds I guess to race him...lol

you got to feel for the young guy.Dealer is always protected, but remember..they said to him everything was good and ready to ride. What does the young guy supposed to think now.Maybe the sled was a lemon from the seller, but wouldn't the dealer perhaps have found something wrong in that $1300 of service they charged him.
Sounds like he will be up for a losing battle with the dealer. They can tell him anything they want.
Do they have a Better Business Bureau in Canada?Could start there with them calling the dealer. If the kid comes up with the money for parts to rebuild the motor, I would help him out, tear the motor down and get him back running clean the carbs and tune it up nice. It just sounds like the right thing to do and not kick him while he is down

doo aside that is too bad, this is an expensive sport especially for a kid and then to have that happen, feel sorry for him

he will learn for sure that this is an expensive sport.I just hope when all gets done..it doesn't blow again. My stepson is very knowledgeable with motors and stuff..can do top ends but won't touch bottom end if needs be.He'll help his bud for sure, but his bud will probably end up taking it to a reputable place to re-build it.He said that his dad has money,so will probably help the kid out. That's one thing about buying used sleds, and I have lucked out myself engine wise,it's buyer beware, sold as is.

Just checked out the company, they are not BBB accredited, but have an A rating. They have only had 1 repair complaint in the last 36 months and it is resolved.Different if there 100 complaints.
