OK really getting irritated about this one ! Its been in my mind for years and now I'm finally calling out the experts on it ! I am running 8t extroverts on my viper and can barely squeeze a 1.5" lug track on it. The mountain vipers can run way more. Why is this? Is the chaincase different? I know they both have a front exchanger. I found someone making extended chaincases that they are selling for like $600 but if the mtn vipers are different I'll try to find one of these. I am definately going to do this mainly to be on the safe side when I put my 136 together. I have everything to do it but I want to wait for the chaincase.

You should have plenty of clearance up front. The problem I think you're having is a clearance issue in tunnel. The mountain vipers have drop brackets to lower the skid.

same chaincase in both mtn and regular vipers. the difference is the mtn vipers dont have rad guards on the front heat exchangers. remove them if your not gonna run studs.

Thanks. If I'm not mistaken the mtn vipers came stock with 8tooth drivers correct?
The gut that is selling these chaincases states you can run up to a 3" lug track if you really needed to.

yes sorry, they do have 8t drivers on the mtn. other than that its just the guards. remove the guards and you should be able to clear almost a 2"

My front exchanger already looks like a bear was clawing at it ! I can't remove my guards or I'll definately have troubles ! Thanks for the info as this really settles my questions about the differences in the 2 sleds.
