ok i posted about having trouble with my srx flooding. i found out that my oil pump adjustment was off so i adjusted it to 20mm. started it up let it warm up before touching the throttle. the mag pipe was still cold, the other two were hot. so i switched out the mag plug and restarted and the mag pipe started to get warm. the sled still idles rough. i noticed when i was sitting on it that when i push the headlight switch the tach stops working for a second. it didnt do it everytime i pushed it though. is this a sign off rub through under the motor?

i just pulled the harness out from under the motor. so basically im just looking for cracked or rub through the insulation? the was a spot that the tape was wore off off.

i measued it by pulling the upper housing of the cable and measuring the gap between the housing and adjuster. i seen in the manual to do it this way.

yea at first i thought i had to measure between the locknut and adjuster but that didnt work so i looked in the manual.

well i didnt find any wires that were broke or worn through on the harness that goes under the motor. the steering colum wires were just about rubbed through. i checked by the cdi box and there was a white with red stripe wire that looked like it was almost wore through so i taped it up.

ok heres what ive noticed. my sled will run fine all day into the next and then it drops cylinder(s) and i can have the throtle wide open and it just crawls. every once in a while when i push the dimmer switch the tach goes to zero then comes right back. ive cleaned the carbs, checked the coils, rerouted and checked the harness, taped a couple suspect wires. i will try to start it today.

just came in from starting the sled up. it started on the 15th pull which isnt bad. it started right up and idled really good. the collant light flashed 3 times and kept repeating. i have never seen it do that since i got the sled in april. after about 5 mins of idling it drooped the mag side. pulled the plugs and they were all a little wet so i torched them off and restarted it but same thing mag side wont fire. please any one have any suggestions?

May have to cut out rubbed through pieces and splice as opposed to just taping. You said you checked the wiring harness to the CDI at the left footwell? I had about 12 wires that needed repaired there. Check all connections and it would be good to use dialectic grease in em all. The tough part about diagnosing is that it is hard to replicate riding conditions in a garage or wherever your sled is stored... unless it's outside. Then I'll feel shame...

the one wire going to the cdi box was white with a red stripe but it wasnt worn through or broke. i could see where it had been sitting. my sled is parked in an unisulated garage too so it does suck.
