Hot Grips not working

Hello,
I cannot figure out why my hotgrips are not working. They are hotgrips brand according to the white resister. All the connections seem fine. I have read many posts. They have not worked since I have had the machine. Unfortunately I do not have a meter to test. Well I do but it is a cheapy just to tell if something is hot or not. Is it going to be hit or miss replacing things unless I get a meter?

Oh yeah-can I hook up 12V to see if the grips heat up at all?

The hot grips on my son 91phazer stoped working the hot wirer(yellow/black) was broke in the harnes right where the handelbar bolt to the steam.but make sure everything is pulg in and no bare wires I used a test light to make sure I had power

OK, so you had to open up the wire wrap to find the break?

Yes but becarefull so you don't cut the other wires. make sure everything is pluged in if you don't have power at where the hotgrips plug in to the sled this is something to look for.When I was looking at mine the testlight would go on and off when I would move the main body wire that is how I found it
