Im having an issue overriding my tors to trouble shoot an engine bog. I've narrowed it down to being an issue with the tors because I have the correct throttle slack. I was told to connect the two wires going into the throttle postion sensor by the carb together but the only problem is that I have three wires going into that harness. Do i need to splice all three of those wires together to see if the tps is bad?
its the harness side that you need to plug together after disconnectiong from the carbs.......

Ok got the right wires now and connected the harness side. it seems to be doing it worse now but after examining the two harnesses closely there both corroded to sh*t so tomorrow i'm just going to grab a couple new harnesses and start fresh. hopefully this solves the whole issue.
Hey guys, I'm having an issue with my 99 SRX. Cyl 1 is not firing well, or seems to fire right away, but then stops and the cyl and pipe stays cold. I have checked compression and cleaned the carbs really well. I have a coil and new cap on order and should be here today. I don't see any wires comming from the carbs and was reading this post and wondering about the TORS system. Do you guys have a digram or some pics and instructions on how to check this TORS system really well? Any info mey help me here.
Thanks!
Thanks!

rog your problem is not tors, if you switch coils does it follow or not, if it does not follow its not the coil id check the carb again post pics of plugs

usaf have you checked the carbs?(clean/syc)?
Hey, I did actually try that and the issue didn't follow. I checked every passage in the carb, took the needle and seat out and it looked perfect. Took the jets out and cleaned them like new, and sprayed out every passage in the entire carb. Gas is going into the cyl and ends up soaking the pipe and leaking out of every joint... The plug comes out wet for sure. The TORS system would be messing up every cylinder?

rog the tors is a safety feature so if your throotle stcks open it won't let the engine rev past 3000ish rpms, sounds like a drag car bouncing off a rev limiter on the starting line

you definately have ignition problem if gas is flwing through the cyl. & not firing. Is the gap on the plug closed up or anything. pull the plug & check the spark on that cyl with a tester or by laying the plug on a head bolt & roll it over, or run it on 2 cyl's. to check.
Hey guys, Yeah I know what the TORS system is, and I swapped several new plugs. Even took a known working one from cyl 2 and still the same issue continues. She has a wiring issue somewhere. There is a pretty large electrical system in her and electrical has never been a strong point of mine. If it's mechanical, or a carb I am ok, but without testing stator output and basically all electrical components I will never fix it. I will be loading up and bringing it to a shop Saturday. At least I can tell them what I did so far. A good Yamaha dealer will know just what to test and exactly where to start. I appreciate all of the suggestions from you guys!
P.S I like the pic of the XT! I just got rid of one of those to get the SRX. Hope I don’t miss the XT now LOL. That was an awesome machine!
