I recently bought a 98 SRX700. This beauty has a Bender exhaust can, Bender cold air kit, Bender clutch kit, Bender transfer rods. Upon removal of air box for carb cleaning I found this in the air box, it has a line attached that comes from the overflows on the carbs and a bigger line that just goes down between the carbs, another bigger line that terminates in the air box, one more line that comes off the last carb top cover on the right. Any idea what it is and how to adjust it? The sled runs great uo until 1/2 to 3/4 throttle thens bogs down bad. Thanks for any help.

looks like a tempa flow type system, that is suppose to create a vaccum on the float bowls to lean it out for you at altitude or warm temps. i hate them, and would recommend taking it off of there. just rejet for the cold air kit.

X2
IMO:
Unneeded complexity on a SRX.

Thanks!!! Any ideas on where to start for jetting for the cold air kit? It's pretty low elevation and cold here!!!

start at 150,150,152.5 pto/mid/mag, but make sure you keep an eye on your plugs and piston wash, don't want you coming after me for pistons lol

so, you have no more vertical dividers and horizontal divider?

There's a top horizontal piece with some foam on it,doesn't look like stock (maybe modified?) and no vertical dividers.

Definitely get that thing out! I put a Vari-flo on my SRX yrs ago (after seriously researching and reading everything I could about it) It created nothing but headaches. The dial is still on to remind of what a POS it was. I would also try and get your airbox back to stock and just play with your jetting.

I have a 2003 SRX Viper with a Holtzman Compinsator on it. It works great.

as near as i can figure that must be what the cold air instructions say to do to the box, cause every one ive ever seen with the cold air kit, mine included, is just like yours, gutted with the extra slots cut into the top

i would suggest putting part # 19 on the microfiche back in there and leaving part #'s 21 & 22 out. then run 42.5 pilots (stock), w/fuel screws @ 1-1/2 turns out, needles w/clip in middle postion & both washers underneath the clip, and 152.5 pto & center and 155 mag. this should be fine for 0*F. for -20*F riding, i would suggest 155 pto and center and 157.5 for mag. these will be safe ball park starting points. remember, these specs i gave you, is with the tempa flow system off the sled, carbs vented to atmosphere, and part #19 on the microfiche, back in the airbox, w/part #'s 21 & 22 out.
