RACE CDI for 98 srx?

BOB, I HAVE A RACE BOX ON MY 2000 SRX FOR ICE/ GRASS, I BELIEVE BOX CAME THROUGH BENDER RACING BECAUSE ITS STAMPED '' BENDERS'' SRX ON IT. MAYBE CATABONES ON HIS 2000 BACK THAN ? I HAD IT ON WHEN I DYNOED IT AT JIMS, HE WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE WITH THE WAY IT ACTED. JIM SAID HE REMEMBERED THEM AND ARE VERY RARE. MINE KNOCKED MY JETTING INTO A FRENZY. WHICH WAS A GOOD THING. I DID NOT ADD KEY. 3:16 (yammie tony)

STAGGS, I HAD SAME QUESTION WHEN I FOUND MINE. ALTHOUGH MINE SAID BENDER SRX ON IT. SO I PLUGED IT IN AND MY 2000 WENT SO LEAN IT WAS POPING. I THAN RE-SET NEEDLE POSITION AND GOT TO C & H DYNO. GREAT LOW END TORQUE AND A EXTREMELY WIDE POWER BAND. PLUG IT IN AND CAREFULLY TRY IT. SEE IF ANYTHING CHANGES. NOW I DON,T BELIEVE MINE IS A HIGH RPM BOX. I BELIEVE MINE IS A REPROGRAMMED STOCK BOX. 3:16 (yammie tony)

mine was a bender box ( '98 ignition ). you should have tried a offset key. probably would have picked up a couple h.p..

the 600 has more agressive timing than the 700, but I'm pretty sure they kill off the power at the same RPM cap

tony:
yes u did, but u may have left a couple hp on the dyno table by not advancing the timing! offset keys are cheap.

With the info I have...a SRX race CDI accompanied with a +3-4 degree timing offset key would put the timing right where, "back in the day", I used to run my Decker piped 650 "02" Polaris....and that sled was good for 150+++ hp. Interestingly enough the 700SX CDI box runs right in that area of timing as well and my improved stock 700SX was a ROCKET before I detuned it for trail riding.[its still no slouch]
