After beating my friend year after year on his ski doo's with my SRX he has been hiding this year.. I find out today he has picked up a 05 Mach Z 1000, piped canned and studded. Not sure if its tuned in and clutched properly.. Kinda doubt it, But to be honest I have never lined up against one of these..
My 99 SRX I am running the 8dn 20's loaded and a hauck 52/42 helix with a green secondary spring. Any one raced one of these?? Any ideas.....
Most likely it will be a 1000 ft run or 1/4 mile.

I HAVE RACED HUNDREDS OF THEM. THEIR LIKE ANYTHING ELSE, IT COMES DOWN TO SET-UP BUD, KEEP IN MIND THOUGH, THE DISTANCE YOU ARE GONNA RACE HIM SWINGS TO HIS ADVANTAGE. THOSE SLEDS DO HAVE ALOT OF HP. 3:16 (yammie tony)

If your racing 1/4 you may have a chance,he'll blow the POS any way....set up, set up you need to get her dialed in,make shure every thing is perfect, pvs clean and adjusted, prem fuel with great jetting get her to launch with that www loose 10 lbs.

Man, even if he beats you, which is a doubt, he has 1/3 more displacement than you!! Where is the honor in that? If he ends up winning, it is still just an itty, bitty, 700....And if you win, throw it right in his face, that this little bitty 700 dinosaur with outdated technology just beat his newer more up to date monster... then I would say HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

them 1000's were famous for blowing up..so you will be ok.I know a guy who took his across a lake pinned and engine blew to pieces.Still under warranty, dealer was giving him a hard time.Think the cost of damage was around $7000.Never heard what happened after that.He apparently went to a newer sled and back to 800cc.Weren't them 1000's in the 170 hp range.
He ended up with this Mach for a reason...Nobody wants them! Ski Doo also discontinued them after just a few seasons for a reason.
These sleds were not real quick and they had pretty descent top speed, but in terms of 1000cc sled they underperformed and their engine, clutches, belt ect longevity is poor and big $$$$$ to rebuild!
Within the group I ride with, there have been 4 1000 Machs come + go. When my SRX was a still 121"[no studs] these stock + unstudded Machs were behind me in 1000'.
It sounds like the previous owner was trying to get this beast to perform
pipes, can , + studs
which could go either way. Just bolting on parts on a sled like the SDI Mach is not going to do anything other then slow it down, unless the previous owner had deep pockets +/or was a skilled tuner.
I like your odds:
- probably the pipes + can have not helped
-if you are both studded, he has no advantage, if you are not studded then race him where studs won't help
-Machs are heavy
-660' should normally favour the SRX
-that Mach probably has worn clutchs with a tired or sick engine
The good news is...even if he does beat you it probably won't be by much and he'll be looking over his shoulder all season![if his sled lasts that long]
Keep us updated!

Thanks guys! I weigh about 190 lbs. I dont run studs now, but I have problems hooking up because of that. I have great transfer just have to do a little fine tuning on the clutching and try to loose some weight. And add some studs. As long as I get my setup dialed in I think I can take him, Like was said In a short run I should be able to launch ahead of him, If its a lake run...run 2 miles wide open and he'll blow up.. Not that I wish that on him, But it will be priceless when my little 700 walks on is 1000. I have a week or 2 to prep so I have some work to do!

Well geez whammy, with a supposedly 30 more HP, 300 more cc, and years of technology, if the 1000 doesn't win, which it may not,....well what a shame for Ski-Don't...I'd be ashamed picking a fight with a guy with a knife and I have a gun, and I still lose...LOL
