misfiring sx600

my brother just took off the carbs on his 99sx 600 tripple put the sled back together and now its misfiring. Sounds like it is only running on two cylinders. Is there any way he could have mixed up the coil wires to cause this problem? HIs coils are on the airbox, unlike my 02 sxr where they are mounted to the engine. So not sure what else could be wrong causing this problem. He has cleaned the carbs before without a problem so dont know what the deal is. thanks for any info
 
he just checked the repair manual and he had everything hooked back up right. NOt sure what could cause it to misfire like that. Also will backfire it you try to give it any throttle.
 
the tors switch may have gone bad the wires that are on the carbs right side unplug them AND PLUG THEM INTO EACH OTHER
 
Did you check for a fouled plug?? A little snow on each pipe will give you the cold one....Also check and make sure your choke rail is returning to the home position. I was riding to Valemont and rejetted only to hang up my choke cable on reassembly, took me a awhile to find the problem, but ran like H until I found the problem....my two bits
 
ok checked throttle cable and choke cable they are good also added 3 new plugs. Sled still did the same thing running on two cylinders. So unpluged the tors and plugged into each other and sled sounded good running on all three cylinders. But now when i did that the sled slowly accelerated up to 4k rpm all on its own before i shut it down. Pluged tors back together and it misfiring again shutting down one cylinder. What would cause this to be accelerating on it own with no throttle and cable adjusted correctly??
 
Your tors is stopping the engine from taking off on it's own. Need to figure out whats causing your engine to idle up.
 
What would cause it to do that? We kept messing with it and now with it unplugged its not accelerating on its own and idling around 2k rpms still a little high compared to both my skidoos and my sxr. Seems to be running better now but no snow around here so could only test it in the backyard
 
Do not plug the TORS (Throttle OveRide Switch) wires back into the carburator. Just disconnect them, and the male, and female end coming from the wiring harness itself, plug both of those in together. The ones from the carb can just dangle, or plug those into eachother also. A lot of these switches go bad after a few years, I have a SRX SXR and a Viper, all had the same problem as yours... Switched the wires, andalls good now... Wait till you get sme snow, and take it for a spin with the wires from the harness connected to eachother... If it idles fine and so on, good. If not either adjust your idle, or clean your carbs again...
