You and your buddies leave the bar what have you fire the sleds up and pinn it taking off riding hard and fast pistons are heating up getting hot FASTER getting larger then the surrounding cylinder tolerances get smaller and smaller until there's no room left then squeak,seized.super1c said:Could you explain what you mean by that? Just curious.
Always warm up your liquid sleds before riding. I fire mine up go inthe house get dressed then go back out side,if leaving a bar for lunch i start it BS for a wile then split.

Ouch...i had that happen with my 809 mach z.Was doing about 80 on the lake and decided to punch it,as soon as i did "BOOM".I got a face full of antifreeze and smoke. When i finally stopped and opened the hood the rod had completely cut the motor in half!!! I just stood there and laughed, what else can ya do!!
YA*AM*A*HEAD said:well drove 6 hours to go riding ...paid 70 buck for 2 permits ,80 dollars in gas ,and 70 for a hotel ...to take a quick 30 to 40 mile ride ....on my way to the deer antler inn bar in wellston ...and than it come to a end ....soundes like a rock hitting the skid plate than ting ting ting ting .....than sled didnt want to go and sounded like gears grinding ...so i remembered last year i had problem with tensioner ...than come a pack of rider pull up stop and have the nerve to tell me to get the F*** out of the way ....and than they took off ....not having a strap i called the guy i was meeting up with and he brought me a strap to pull it the last 1/4 mile to the bar .....got it into the light and got out the flash light and than i saww it ......now trying to figure out what caused this any ideas ....i thought crank went out of phase but no its been welded ....thought mabe rust pulled the bearing and not a sign of rust or any contamination ....any thing else i should look at ?
Wow, you sawed that one in half!!
It sounds like you were alone... and they left you there?
Must have been out of towners ;>)
Sucks man!
Maybe it's time to start advertising your powervalve repair service. I'll be sending mine the end of this season.

Any sledders that would not offer assistance to a lone rider with apparent mechanical issues should leave our sport for those of us that "Get It"!
They would do us all a favour by finding a different sport...like Shark Wrestling!!!

Agreed, I don't care what you're riding.
Now, If I could only find the Swedish bakini team stranded on the side of the trail... Of course it'd be the one weekend the old lady decides to tag along.

agreed sideshowbob! i ride alone most of the time, and anytime i see anyone down, regardless of hood open or multiple riders in their group, i just give a quick thumbs up to see if they need help, i would expect no less from any other rider. i have ridden motorcycle, did boats/waverunners, and off-roading, sledding by far has the friendliest riders, and to hear that someone could not stop for one friggen second makes me mad. i don't care what you ride, yamaha/doo/poo/cat/deere/kaw/moto/whatever-it's wrong just to leave someone stranded like that.

Oh yeah, I'd stop.
"I just want to watch honey" LOL
Still hard to believe someone wouldn't stop and ENSURE a lone rider was okay. Like MM said, just a simple thumbs up isn't too much to ask.
... and if he was in the way (they did tell him to get out of the way) why the heck would you leave him there for the next guy.
With some folks it's all about ME, ME, ME.
If it were the guys I ride with we'd stop. We'd send someone up trail to wave off on coming traffic, pull him off trail and figure out how he's getting home.
Then we'd talk him into buying dinner... or at least the first round.

snomofo..I am moving up to your area.In my area..try and get a sled of a different color to stop..impossible.The Ski-doo guys out here think they own the place.Same with the Cats out here..very unfriendly types. When we pass,I wave and I get nothing back.Must be the SRX decal on the side on my hood that scares them. And they are foolish on the trail or pathway..come at you like 100 mph and I have to move out of the way.
I have stopped to help out a guy in his older Artic Cat Sled and a guy who's quad was stuck in the slush on the River and couldn't drive over the ruts last year. Most people think the guy has a cell phone,so he doesn't need our help.Just stop at least and ask if we need help,we'll thank them.

We have our fair share of chuckleheads here. Funny, when I was riding Polaris, it seemed the Yami guys were the biggest chuckleheads. I guess some take the whole brand loyalty thing a bit too far.
...and I was envying you the end of last season with all the riding you were doing that I wasn't.

Last year, mid-February, I was snowmobiling in the Sudbury area with my dad. The conditions were terrible, icy with no loose snow and warm weather=....an overheating viper!!(no rear hx) A couple of times my dad was leading and we had a fair distance between us, and when my temp. light would come on, I would pull over to the side of the trail and shut her down. When he would not see me behind anymore, he would turn around and come back. A couple of times I was pulled over, dad not back yet, and one time it was a group of 3 or 4 just drove right by, some were Yamahas too..., If I saw someone on the side of the trail I would ask if everything was ok. I also often ride by myself, and if it wasn't for the Yamaha reliability, I'd be screwed!!

snomofo....are you stalking me or something...lollllllll. Late in the season last year
(April),it was just perfect conditions and it was the best for a long time..This year is a different story, but that could change. I feel my Yamaha's are reliable and I ride alot by myself also, but now don't really do any night riding anymore.Unless if I am with a bunch of other sleds.Night time riding is a lot more fun,but alone it can be tragic.
