I have a 2000 Srx 700
8dn weights loaded 53 grams(4.5/4.5)
y-w-y spring
51-43 helix
50 degree twist
silver secondary spring
My dilemma is it over revs to 8900-9000 rpms. How can I bring down the revs. The weights already have both hole filled with 4.5's. Will a green seco ndary spring bring the rpms down. Also if I change the primary spring to a stiffer total force will this raise or lower the rpms? Thanks.....

I have this same set up in my buddys srx his turns the same try a w-w-w spring
put a green or red secondary ...i think the silver secondary doesnt it is place for that set up
Hey I just went through this after buying the sled. CHECK YOUR GEARING!!!!...a lot of knuckle heads (I have seen two sleds!) take the gearing from a viper which would be going to a 22 tooth on top instead of the 23. This lowers the drag on everything causing an overev by about 500rpm!
I put mine back to stock and wow...does it work well
just something to check......I know it's a pain to pull the cover off.

silver is a grass drag spring. try a green at 60 -70 deg. may need more in th tip, 1 gram washer.

SANKA, YOU WERE ON HERE BEFORE WITH THIS PROBLEM. DUDE, FIND ANOTHER HELIX WITH STEEPER / HIGHER FINISH NUMBER. ANOTHER WORDS MORE LOAD ON SHIFT RPM. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Ok I'll try the green spring at 60 thanks
the gears are 22-37
the gears are 22-37
go to a 23 tooth gear
your rpms will be way closer

for trail riding, i would suggest 23/38 gearing. also, why are you using the silver spring? are you just trail riding this machine? also, if you went to a spring w/a higher finish load, you would see more rpms and vice versa.
oh, which 51/43 helix are you using? apex/rx-1 or aftermarket?

RX1 Helix
Yes I'm Trail riding (corner to corner) I was told by a individual I needed the silver spring. If I put the green spring in at 60 degrees will this bring it down?
Yamgod I was but now its a whole different set up I went back to the stock weights just trying to get it dialed in. And I did get a different helix I went with the 51 43 rx1 helix.

i was told by turk, that the rx1 51/43 helixs, shift like a 48/42 helix. i would start out w/a red @ 60 and see what you get. i think the green is a little too much for your helix choice. try red @ 60 (holes 3-3). probably will only see a 100-200 rpm drop. also, you'll need to get a w/w/w (45/119) spring.

are they 8DN-20 or 8DN-00?? if they are 8DN-20 use a w-w-w primary spring
a 54/44 helix or even the stock 47 works ok with a green secondary wrapped at 70 or 80 this will be a good trail setup with good back shift for corner to corner riding
I have 8DN-00 with 4.5 in both holes a g-w-g primary spring a stock 47 helix with a green secondary wrapped at 70 and it is awesome.

8dn-00's loaded 53.25 grms of weight
not sure the 51-43 helix is the perfect choice for the 8dn-00

neither is the 8dn-00 you got load em down so much with weight they dont shift out as good as the 20s,to each is his own....modsrx said:not sure the 51-43 helix is the perfect choice for the 8dn-00

sanka, run 8dn-20's....they have a more aggressive profile, which will help pull those rpms down and help it shift out faster. make sure to run the 8dn-20's w/4.5g rivets both holes.
8dn-00 Have A Flat Spot On Midrange Need To Run Different Helix
