I am consistantly blowing my head gasket in my 780 big bore hauck viper with venum heads. Any one else have problems with the venum heads?

are you running o-rings, or their steel head gasket?

are you leaking coolant into the cylinder, or externally? also, is it the same cylinder or spot everytime?

Pushing air into cooling system, I also found a coolant leak coming out of the water pump cover in the front of the engine so Im trying to seal it up I figure I could be getting air in thru it also. The oring seems fine on water pump cover I think its leaking out the weep hole for the water pump

if getting coolant to leak out the weep hole by water pump, i would check the little washer w/the rubber coating, to see if the rubber is junk. also, put some green loctite on the splines of the water pump impeller. chance of leaking there also, if splines are getting sloppy. also, check the domes on your heads....take the little 1" diameter o-ring off, where it seals by the spark plug...put dome into head shell, and measure the distance that the dome's gasket mating surface, sticks out past the head shells gasket mating surface. it should be like .001"-.002" for a good seal. that's how i've setup megapower heads, and never had a leak issue. should be the same for your venom heads. so, right now you don't know exactly where the leak is on the heads? and/or, which head?

I took apart the water pump impeller/seals and ordered new. I just replaced the head gasket and noticed the increase in pressure in the cooling system because I routed the overflow pipe out the footwell. My thoughts are the waterpump was drawing air and loosing coolant and that caused the sled to overheat/blowing a head gasket.

The new water pump did not fix my problem, I have a coolant system pressure tester and with it connected everytime I give her gas on the stand it jumps about 4 LBS intill it reaches 18 and pukes coolant. It will hold pressure cold overnight at 14 LBS. I'm thinking only a head gasket would do this. I have the Vemom heads from hauck can they warp? Whats Up Im bummed I need to ride

do the domes sealing surface to the head gasket, seem to stick up above the shell's gasket sealing surface? i've had good luck w/sealing, when i made the custom domes on my buddies megapower heads, stick out .001"-.002" past the head shell. no leakage at all. i doubt you have a head warped, but maybe the dome wasn't made straight.....meaning the gasket surface isn't parallel to the surface, that would rest on the step, inside of the head's shell. know what i mean?

I'm headed to the machine shop in the a.m. to get the heads done. The domes are recessed into the head by .001 thanks for all the advice

if the domes aren't sticking out past the head shell, that's your problem. no problem on helping you out.

What machine shop did you take them to? I have had luck with Cotreal racing in shakopee in the past.

Pressure looks good when running on the stand. I'm takin it out in the a.m. for testing. The machine shop ended up cutting 2 of the 3 heads.

glad to hear that you are back on the trail, w/no leaks. its always a good feeling, when you get that "bugger" of an issue worked out.
