should i be able to see the coolant flowing in and around those little hoses running all over the carbs? I have the dial turned to on (on that thing that looks like a fuel rail). They all seem empty? I thought they were to heat the carbs, does it bring much of a performance gain?
No performance gain with them ON, they are for very very cold days, altought I don't think many of us use them. In my case I never turn them on. You won't see the coolant around those clear hoses.

coolant flows thtough black hose & carb bodies. The claer hoses are fuel & vent hoses.

I've found if you turn it back and forth on/off a frew times a season when ever you have the hood open it helps it from sticking.
