cans generally do loose power but unless your running next to another one you wont notice it, its only 1 or 2 hp not much trail riding will never notice it. would be best to wait untill you hear one you like and then get it cause some ive heard were just irritating to ride with but others arent bad. if you buy new from bender or hawk or somewere like that(get out your wallet) but they usually have a couple diffrent coices for race or for "trail friendly" decible. i dont know about you but here in NY dec patrols dont know a whole hell of alot, no decible guages, just looking to make quota and prety much as long as the can is shiny they know its not stock and try to issue tickets. ive done it before and got away with just painting it black like rest of the pipes and they dont know any diffrent if its not one of the really loud ones. if it is then keep the exhaust side in the fluffy snow as you pull up to them. helps hide a little, but still not alot. keep in mind im not recommending a loud one.
