what oil works best in chain case for srx

Just like engine oil you'll get a million suggestions on what people use, anything from motor oil to ATF and all in between, Yamaha calls for a 75 or 80w gear lube, i only run a full synthetic(Amsoil sever gear) 75w90 gear oil,and being a syn it's thin with a low temp pour point to help prevent rolling drag.

i recommend a synthetic gear lube.

thanks for the reply !!!!!!!!
i think i will try some amsoil gear lube , i have allways ran amsoil 2 stoke oil its all good stuff !!!!

ATF. I use it in my trail sleds and also my prostock without problems. Less expensive then synthetics.

I got some Shell Snowmobile Chaincase Oil this year when I changed my track. It's all personal preference, just stick to a well known brand of either gear oil, chaincase oil, or maybe ATF/Engine oil.

i use 4 oz atf & 4 oz of motor honey sweet mix been useing for 5 yrs :yam:
Why you would want to use MH is unclear?,all it is a oil thickener(viscosity improver, not good thing in cold) with no additives, you aint got much protecting your gears/chain in there.

i use ATF also ! 4ozs .the MH is daluted & sticks to every thing thats wher the ATF comes in.never had problem! even in the COLD

Nothing wrong with ATF... but the MH is not needed ATF will "stick" just fine by it's self. go try and pour MH out side in 10 deg temps would you want that tar in your case? it does nothing for it but prevent the atf from getting by the seal lip and into the bearing because it's so thick. but to each is his own carry on men. ;)!

I also reccommend opening the chaincase and cleaning out the accumulation of metal particle sludge at the bottom of the chaincase. Changing the oil through the drain hole is not good enough. I also change the chaincase oil every 800 - 100 miles, it uses such a small amount and is inexpensive. A clean chaincase is a happy chaincase which will not leave you stranded.

daman..you know what works really well..I add a teaspoon of Maple Syrup .It really gets everything nice and sticky...everything sticks to everything..it's on the garage floor...on my friggin boots....tracked it into the house...wife saw what I did..

and then the fight started.....

PS:you should try it sometimes....you'll be amazed where and what it'll stick to..lolll
