Well got a chance to take the 600 out for a rip.The River is good now,lot of sled tracks on there already and nice and smooth in the long stretches.Had her pinned and no engine blow-up,nice and cool out also at -22 C.Ditches are marginal to get there. We need a good snowstorm now.
Prior to this season I replaced 20 tooth upper back to stock 21.Have a 1 1/4" track and seems all I can get out of it is 85 mph. Will put back the 20 tooth because I used to reach 95 to 100 mph on it before.RPM while pinned is right on 8500 -8600. Snow is loose yet on River and from a standstill still reving to 9000 on take off.Need more snow.
Can't wait to stud the SRX and take her out on the River..coming soon.

I have a 98 vmaxx 500 with 20 teeth and, on a good cold day, can get it to 100.
Is it me or is 95-100 slow for a 600???????

can you drop a 20 tooth gear without changing the chain??? I would be interested in trying this to get a little more top end

I made a mistake,stock is 20 tooth.I had a20 in there,so I replaced it with a 19 tooth,should get better top end,clutches will be more efficient ,since I am using a 1 1/4 track. I think I am also running rich as in gas/oil ratio..like 68:1.Got to drop it down..will help to.

the smaller top gear more low end.going with a 21 loose a little low end not much.but gain more top end about 3 to 5 mph should drope rpms a little.a 37-19 is 1.94 ratio a 37-21 is 1.76 ratio which is more top end.

I love the pep it has with the 19 tooth sprocket and 1.25 track.Had it out today between the 2 hwy`s in about 3-4 inches of snow and pinned.Seems to be slightly over-reving around 8700,sometimes 8800.Like to get it down to about 8400 and climb to 8500 ideally .It is set-up as follows:

4.5 inner
3.6 outer
8dg-oo`s
14.5 rollers (stock)
47 helix wrapped 80 with red spring.

A new belt will probably drop the rpm`s,but the belt on there now is still within specs. Will run it rest of this season cause belts are expensive.Have 3 spare belts in the basement.

timber...the 600`s are lucky to hit 100.Everything has to be perfect. That`s why I have a little 700 SRX to get to 100 and beyond when in the need.My 600 is a ditchbanger and love it just for that.I have 11,700 km`s on the motor..all original.Compression at the beginning of season was 123..124...124.
I probably will get ambitious this summer and attempt my first rebuild of the motor.I will start accumulating parts slowly this winter and will be ready for the swearing this summer. Then if all goes well,I may even attempt to rebuild the SRX.
