I am in the process of removing the speedometer drive connector that is pressed in the drive shaft. Please please tell me the best way to get it out. Is it drilling, or taping and pulling, or cussing like a sailor? or a combo of all?? Thanks for the help (99 vx700sx)

spray it with brake cleaner real good to remove the grease from around it, this will free it abit.then use compressed air and try to blow it out.

Swearing seems to work the best for me in almost all circumstances......

Yes, its broke off flush. A buddy said his was sticking out a bit and just pulled it with a vice grip. Not mine sir. What drill bit is it. I can either wait till i get parts and mic the diameter of it or if some one could tell me the size, i will have it out and waiting for new parts.'
thanks again everybody

Just had a moment of clarity!!! Tap the Connector for a grease zerk, install zerk, AND PUMP TILL IT PUSHES OUT???? Maybe?
What made me think of this is i just greased my skidoo with the suspension out, and installed suspension put a bolt back in, and SNAP, had too much grease in the threaded hole, and hydro locked the bolt. Do u think this is worth a shot with the zerk??(

Thanks so much. Its good to know i will have an option after i snap all my drill bits, invent six new four letter words and only want to drink my issues away(with a friend of course, im not like that.. Just a self proclaimed rocket scientist with snowmobile problem and a drinking habit. put that on my tombstone).
I will let you know by the end of the night how this went. Banking on the grease zerk techinque. I'm appologising to the webmaster ahead of time for my slurred/fouled typing that may follow this post if this goes as poor as all says it will.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP. You guys are the best.

Slide Hammer or blind hole puller
Get a bodymans slide hammer with screw tip and change the whole square key connector and key insert in drive axle. Drill out the broken square connector screw the slide hammer in and pull insert out. A blind hole puller is best but hard to find.

Got it! Wasn't easy as you all said. Drilled to 7/32 with angle drill. tapped for grease zerk. Broke tap.
F*%^ g#$ d^*# s@^ of a b#%^. Tried breaking the broken tap with punch. Not enough room to swing. Cut punch 2in long, won't break. Ah Ha! Got it. The old liquid nitrogen trick. Nope, can't get it down there before it evaporates(I TREID)
. Torch, nope. Can't heat it that much(TRIED).
5/16 drill? Y not. Sure thats the exact diameter of the hole. Nice and easy. Took all the material out that is that diameter except for the fact that the broken tap wont let me get literally the last bit but it is spinning in the hole. Pound a nail in the slot between the taps blades and the square female drive. pull and presto. 5/16 bit took JUST a bit of the interferece fit out. Pounded new drive in and it felt good till you really twisted it hard. Pulled it out, peened the new drive and red loc-tite and its all working fine. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS...
