Hey guys after a little investigating i found two cracked petals on my reeds, I heard from a reliable source that the "Corbon tech" are the best bang for your buck for the SRX? Is this true, or should I stay with factory? Im also looking into reed spacers, what thickness should thay be and how much HP is expected?

Save your bread and use OEM there as good as your going to get,the little bit of low end gain is far from worth it.

Stay with the stock reeds. From what many experienced tuners from this site have told me, stock is best, very little to be gained by the non-OEM reeds. Not worth the $ spent on the non-OEM reeds.

anybody ever use boyessen 2 stage reeds, the ones with 2 seperate sets of petals. one set on top of the other, I had those in my 600 twin & was really happy with them in that sled.

When it comes to spacers do they work the same as a carb spacer on a car? Like no hp gain but maybe better throttle response? just curios cuz i was talked into them 3 or 4 years ago.dont know what they did cuz i changed other things at the same time.

they might help with throttle response a little from higher velocity and a little more time to atomize, but the gains are more on engines where the reed cage obstrcts the path of the intake, thats not a problem on a srx

i have done all the reading on here. So i know about opening up the transfer port or uncovering it. I know on the viper or srx motor that is not an issue.Unfortunatley I found ty after the purchase. Just wondering if anyone else put these on with no ther change and noticed any improvement?

carbon tech petals are awesome. they aren't short lived like the v-forces. carbon tech petals on the stock OEM cages is a great trail setup. good bang for the buck. i have them in my viper and srx, and 2 friends of mine have them in there srx's and vipers. none of us had any breakage or failure issues between 4 sleds, in 3 yrs. both srx's needed stock petals replaced, as they were chipped on the tips. might as well put in the quality carbon techs then. i recommend carbon tech petals.

I had carbon tech's in my 2001 a couple years ago with ZERO reliability issues however they were in the sled when I bought it so I have no idea if there is a gain over stock. Their add says 2hp's or so but who knows.

Are there any jetting changes required when switching from the stock reeds to the Carbon Tech units? Are they really worth the added expense, $142 for the Carbon Tech vs $33 for the OEM? Thanks!

Ya

I have v-force3 on my srx with the reed spacers and i put the stock ones in for a day and i noticed a big diff. with the throttle responce :nos:

should not have to re-jet. I have not noticed any gain really out of the v- force3 reeds, the spacers not so sure about power gains, dont think so but it is alot more responsive and sounds like it runs a little smoother at itle.

Well that depends if 2hp low end and better throttle response and hole shot are worth it to you and with carbon tech they're straight forward. Lt low tension for bottom end and ht high tension for top end modded engines. There's no one performance reed for all applications. Not even V-Force.
