All right guys this past thursday I did some clutching to my 02 srx that was recomended on here. I added 54-44 helix, y-s-y spring and 4.4 gram rivets, also green secondary. I tried this out and there was a bog in the midrange by the way the secondary was wrapped at 70 so we bumped it up to 80 and it pulls pretty good but now theres a slight bog in the low end? Should I change the primary spring to a w-w-w? any thoughts would be appreciated!

WANT KIND OF SHAPE YOUR BELT IN FOR STARTERS. 3:16 (yammie tony)
w-w-w will make it worse. What are rpm,s & what brand helix are you using?

the belt is in good shape, when you hit the throttle it bogs then it pulls good to about 8100.

What's with all the freight train referances lately?, freight trains are powerful but move quite slow. Are you guys out there towing heavy loads often?? I like my sled to pull like a funny car would be a better referance. lol
Didn'T mention that your carbs are spotless....

How about, pull like a blue marlin in the bay of fundy

That's good one, usually wore out after fighting with that for a while.

a bog on the bottom can be from a number of things.....belt, belt deflection, lean low end (may need to adjust fuel screw), too low of engagement. how's your belt condition now? how's your belt deflection now? how clean are the carbs? idle hang at all? i would also suggest a y/w/y spring instead. so, its only hitting 8100 total? so, its like hitting 7700 or so outta the hole and then climbing to 8100? what are clutch temps now? secondary warm? primary warm?

Doesnt the 54/44 need a silver spring with this set-up?

sorry for the freight train reference lol just want it to pull extremely hard from low to top! The belt is brand new, right before winter the carbs got cleaned and were spotless. When i was trying this setup on a long straight it would pull to about 8,8100 at about 90 or so mph stay there for a few seconds then i ran out of room. Right now it idles at about 1500,2000rpms?
Are power valves clean and adjusted correctly, you need at least 300 more rpm...

I havent checked them i know its not an easy procedure to replace them but i havent had this low end bog before i messed with my clutching. Is it my primary someone mentioned using a y-w-l which was in there before i put in the y-s-l.

y-w-y is the stock spring i believe, y-s-y will lower your engagement rpm

yup your right I looked on the tech page. So now i dont know how to get rid of that bog will a different primary spring help?

i would def. check your power valves before going any further. you can't dial in your clutches if your engine isn't making all its power. I thought my PV's would be OK too when i bought my sled and they were REALLY gummed up...plus, its good piece of mind and only takes about an hour to do.
try it after they are cleaned, then maybe go back to the ywy

yes, y/s/y will have lower engagement than y/w/y, but it will also have lower finish rpms due to a 118kg finish, instead of a 128kg finish. changing to a y/w/y spring, would buy him approx 200 rpms....putting him at 8300.

my sled when I bought it this past fall wasnt neglected and was taken good care of. If it was the powervalves wouldnt the sled run crappy through the whole rpm range? Maybe ill check the idle screw.
