Hey guys, I've been having some overheating problems with my Viper. Last season I added a heat exchanger to the rear tunnel which seemed to do the trick at the time. I put on about 800kms since then. Yesterday I left with my girl on the back and within 4kms The light came on and I had to pull over.
I've been thinking that I may of had air in there from last season because I didn't bleed anything. So I tried bleeding from the rear with the front in the air because I don't have the recommended pressure tool yamaha uses. I didn't get any air and I also tried the bleeder above the carb switch. There was no fluid at all from the carb switch bleeder. I squeezed the hoses and nothing. I could feel fluid in the hose on the top of the motor but nothing would come out the bleeder. I tried doing it with the switch in the on and off position, nothing. I pulled the small line off going to the carbs from the switch and was able to get fluid coming to there when I squeezed the big hose on the top of the head.
I tried this after the sled ran for 5 minutes also.
Any suggestions??

Thanks alot. I just finished reading the same issues other guys had. I should have done a search first.
Yeah, I understand my error now.
I didn't actually have any air in there. I thought I did when I couldn't get that front bleeder to work.
Do you have any recommendations for snow scratchers for my sled??

what is the size of the rear cooler? I have a rear cooler on my 02 viper (its only about 3" wide at most) and I still have over heating. I am going to try a rear exchanger with more capacity.

I think their is a small one that goes to a different sled and the a large one for the viper and SRX ( correct me if im wrong please? ). Mine is X3 larger than the one you have on both my vipers.

I also just put ice scratchers on both from RSI. They were only $39 a pair. I just mounted them where the 2ond boggie is on the front of the rail. They hang back a little far but im using them for cooling not the hyfax. Hyfax are cheap. I modified the mounting bolt so i could keep the boggie wheel on. They do make them from RSI but they seemed a little expensive for what they were and i just made my own.
