LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
Went riding today and smell gas and then I see gas coming down the tank and cowling on left side.Checked ,the over flow elbow is off the connection that goes into top of tank. Finally pushed it back in and then later came out again.Looks like I am going to have to epoxy the fitting back into place.Anyone else delt with this small issue.
Got clutching dead on the SXR,pulls strong to 8400 and climbs to 8500.So I am happy here.

It is part # 13.Looks like it is a 1 piece item.I will attempt to epoxy the elbow into the base and save some $25 at least. Can't get a pic on here from parts site.

tank vent
Had a similar issue back on a 02 SRX. Seems the vent line was pinched behind the tank. It needs to be clear up to the handlebars for the tank to work correctly. Follow the line and insure it is not pinched or twisted. Good luck.

Mine did the exact same thing last year.I thot is was due to the cold temps (-32c) and the big bumps. Tapped it back on with a wrench while on the side of the trail and has never come off again.Checked it this year during my pre-season maint. Still on tight.

I taped it back on,used a little red loctite to help keep it from jumping out again...should be ok now.

I had the same issue with my 99 sx. I just tapped it back in firmly and I haven't had a problem since.

X2 - It looked to me like a tapered fit so I tapped it in dry.
If it doesn't stay with loctite, try cleaning it and tap it back in dry. Usually any type of taper fit requires it to be clean and dry.
same thing here ....but i too the fitting out of a artic cat fuel pump and drove it in there worked better since it was knarled on the end i shoved in .... and my buddies happend just the other day on his 99 vmax

yep, mine did the same thing, gas all over.
Took a fender washer and put it under a longer screw to hold it down. Worked for two seasons now. Just found out, those are two pieces pressed together. May need to re-flare the nipple end before pressing. Going to try that this year.
