Hello, I have an 02 viper totally stock other than a ripsaw 1.25" track. I have a clutching question. I have always been running around 8600 RPMs, and i just changed my belt to a new OEM belt and now the RPM's are at 9000-9100. What could cause this? Is it fine? I replaced the springs in the clutches last year (OEM specks), so they should be good. Also the alignment and spacing on the clutches is spot on. The belt rides just a tad high on the secondary, which is what you want right? I hate to mess with a good thing, as I have raced many vipers stock and clutched same track, different track etc (none pipped), and mine has always been significantly faster. Quarter mile is generally about 4-5 sled lengths at the closest. Not that it matters, but makes me happy. So any thoughts?

Remove the belt and wash your clutches, scuff them and then wash your belt. The r's will likely come back down...

8DN belt?? look on your primary clutch any sighns of black rubber/lines?
Scrubed and scuffed belt, clutches were cleaned, no black marks and it is an 8DN. Guess I will take off and do again and see what happens.

i always run a new belt lightly on the wire wheel and sand and clean clutchs
What grain sand paper do you use on the clutches? I usually just wash or hit with a little parts cleaner if there is something stubborn on them.
