Ok I have a 98 srx700 that runs like a dream. Would like to get the best I can out of it for some 660 runs and trail riding. The sled has a m-10 rear with a good 1", 96 pick track other than that it is stock. I weigh in at 275. Last year at the radar runs I could only get 71mph in 660. So far this year I have had the carbs apart and cleaned, power valves are clean and working good and a brand new(oem) belt. Havent even got to ride yet, going this weekend! I know these sleds are suppose to be pretty fast but i think my weight and the stock set up isnt living up to its potential. I have read the forums and gotten myself so confused with all the different setups and havent came across a good setup for the heavy rider. Can someone please help me out.

Yes your weight is a big factor here and along with the stock set up your not going to see great results. get it dialed in lose some weight and it'll run...

what is your clutch set up right now?

Primary is green, green, green and secondary is red at 60. 23/37 gears , stock 47% helix.
Last year there were a couple issues that made it perform like crap, bad belt, poorly set up comet clutch( guy I bought it from gave me the stock clutch), couldnt hook up, low end bog. You name it. Over the summer I have been over it top to bottom and I think when I ride it I will see a big improvement, just wondering if I can get better clutching or if there is a better gear setup?

you will need alot more secondary tension with your weight. I would go to a green spring or rap yours at 90deg if you do a search there are a sh*t load of clutching setups on here.

If you want to not have to touch it again go to a 51/43 rx1 helix 8dn-20s with 4.5 both holes white,w,w prime and a green secondary at 80deg best bang for your buck IMO. I used to run this and im 250lbs I switched to hc's and wish i never got rid of the 8dn 20s seems i spend time tunning, when I could be rideinng.

Ok thats what i needed to know before we could make a recommendation, like Concept Carbon said but also a 54/44 may work better, try both.

dont over rev you want 8100 outa the hole and climb to 83 then 8400 no more.

are you sure its not a 38 tooth bottom gear? either way thats a lot of legs. 660 gears should be somewhere around 21/40 area.
