Hey Guys,
I have done a search and read a ton of Threads on rear coolers , but still have a question for you........
I have a 2002 Viper, I bought a used srx cooler, (smaller one) The hose fittings are 3/4" on cooler. The Hose fittings on the Floor coolers on Viper are 1".
I read some of you stretched 3/4" heater hose and forced it onto 1" (does it kink where it bends ?)
Some put a sleeve on the 3/4" side & used 1" hose, then clamped that.
I wanted to know if anyone did anything else, does anyone have any problems with leaks from the above mentioned ways ? Does anyone sell an actual 3/4" to 1" reducer hose?
Also , I have stock track with 1" studs, do I have to worry about protectors ? the cooler looks as if it will sit back by the flap without any track interference.
Thanks

i would run protectors, just look at the recent post titled OUCH thats WITH protectors.
either of the two methods you mentioned have been proven to work.

I would run protectors no matter what!!! It is worth the investment to not be on the trail with a stud threw the exchanger!!!Some others will chime in with info, but I think you can just stretch the hose to fit 1" and clamp it.

Staggs,
Ya , I saw that picture , but my cooler is smaller and does not curve under the tunnel like that.
I don't even know if I can get protectors for it.

Not an SRX cooler
If your cooler is square and does not curve like that then it is an SX cooler, not SRX. This also explains the difference in the tubing size. If it really were and SRX cooler then it would all be the same size. Here is the deal.....it will still help with cooling your sled.....not as well as the SRX cooler but far better than the old crossover tube. Best way to install it is by slipping a small piece of hos over the cooler tubes then slip your hose ofer top of that and clamp it all together. Just make sure you bleed it well. Ride it!

PS - You do not need protectors for this cooler.

ahh........................ that explains alot, thanks for clearing that up for me. I was told it was a SRX cooler,.......... well I own it now , so its going on.
Your local hardware store will have plastic adapters to go from 1" to 3/4"
Get some hose clamps and a small chunk of 3/4" heater hose and your gtg
The gray colored ones are better then the white ones.
Just threw out these type of adapters from the Hartmann kit that I installed.
It came with a 3/4" crossover tube and I had the Srx cooler in there already.
Stick with the premolded hoses coming from the running board exchangers.
Taking a straight hose and bending it around the corner could kink causing other unwanted problems.
Here's a pic. You can see the adapter. It is in there temp. while I was working on the sled.

Did you ever have any cooling issues with that cooler ?
