Hey all,

I have a 98 srx700 ohlins. The chain is damaged, stretched, and it wore out the inside of the chaincase. I've already got another chaincase coming but replacing the chain is a challenge.

There are a lot of different gear ratios for the 98 and 99s, but the 2000 and 2001 have only one gear ratio. I have to have the EXACT same chain (Yamaha PN 94680-03068-00 which is a 68-link chain) to replace mine if I want to run the gears that are already in it. These chains are on national backorder so finding a new one will be tough. I've found someone who has a chain and gears from a 2000SRX700. I'm aware that the gear ration will be a bit different and I can live with that BUT ... :o| Will the gears from a 2000 work properly on a 98? :o| The part numbers do not match.

Thanks.

SHURE WILL, AND WILL WORK NICE. MATTER OF FACT THEY ARE THE LITER 13 WIDE HYVO. JUST REMEMBER TO USE ALL THE 2000 STUFF. NO MIXING. 3:16 (yammie tony)

OK. So to clarify ...

The 2 gears and chain will work fine if they are sourced from the same sled, but you can't mix gears and chains from diff years, right?
