OK guys, I got the used motor in my Viper this week, and got it running. Ran great, went about 60 miles yesterday afternoon without any issues. Got up this morning to go fill the tank as I wanted to go far today, and on the way to the station, the sled was running weird, RPMs seemed to be fluctuating from about 1500-2500RPM.
Sled seemed to have lots of power, and then it would loose power, I am guessing only running on 2 cylinders.
Well I got it back home, and left it. Started it back up, and it ran fine. Took it out, got about 2 miles away, and it died it the middle of the trail. Got it restarted after I left it for like 10 mintues, turned around for home, just got in the laneway. Dead for good. Will not restart. NO SPARK.
I am guessing stator, but I would have thought the stator would have been screwy for more then like 5 total miles until dying???
Also, what are the Ohm specs for an 02 Viper stator???

My sx stator did that to me. Run ,no run, run and then just plain died.
Check in the tech section for the specs.I think I saw them there last week while searching something else.

are you sure you don't have a loose conection or pinched wire somewhere from the swap
I agree with Maxdlx, start with the easiest fixes and work your way to the harder ones. Good luck.maxdlx said:are you sure you don't have a loose conection or pinched wire somewhere from the swap
Had a similar situation on my 01 SRX. If you haven't pulled the main wiring harness out from under the motor I would check it now. Mine had 3 wires rubbed through and was stealing juice from my ignition, thus fouling plugs. Before I knew what was wrong I would move things around enough to stop the short circuit, and it would run perfect, until I hit a few bumps. The problem drove me crazy. It got worse and worse until it wouldn't start at all for me, as the wire rubbed through more and more.

My dad says he checked for rub through before putting it in, and also checked it with the airbox off yesterday. He will try and have a better look today.
One question I have it finding some specs for testing the stator? I have found specs here, but the machine has to RUN to test with those specs that I found, I have the small issue of no spark, makes that a little tough.

Well my dad just called, he had taken the sled over to the shop to have a look. As soon as he got the starter off, and turned the flywheel, he knew the issue. The pick-up for the stator had come loose, so we got that snugged back up with some lock-tite, did the same with the stator screws, put it back together, and it fired right up.
I sure am glad my dad has been doing this stuff since age 13(he is now 57), because he has FAR more knowledge then I ever will!
Another problem fixed, lets see what happens next! LOL

ya, you see dads are good for something. that's what i keep telling my kids. work with him in your shop as much as possible and you will learn a lot. i've got my 15 year old working on sleds and working along with me whenever i do repairs to any of my cars, especially my 69 fastback mustang.great way to spend quality time together.
PS. i was out riding with my son in Strathroy last saturday. got a little rough near the end of the day. hope the upcoming warm weather doesn't screw up the trails you have now.
