i have a 2000sxr600 and breather my boot keeps falling off my pto side ? also when engage there seems like there is slack i hear a clunk my chain is adjusted properly and aswell as my track, any ideas???

How are your clutches? The clunk could be in your clutches. What is your engagement RPMs?

For the boots, did you try to reinstall with the box fully assembled? It is easier and you get a more accurate fit if you put the bottom of the box and use your hand on the inside of the boot to feel how it is fitting while you tighten it. Is the clamp broken?

ive tried it both ways and it just keeps coming off aswell as the clunk sound there seems to be a jerk aswell the engagment is 3800 rpm any info would be great.

i am running a new yamaha belt and my sled has high miles is the bushings hard to change ??? the boots ar in perfect cond. maybe the motor is shifts but that would cause clutch allignment problems ,to me it seems that the torque of the motor is ripping it off.I was thinking that i would modify air box to be a little closer, good idea no!!!!!
 
Check your motor mounts, the boot on the pto side could be coming off due to the engine acutally moving back and forth when the clutch engages. Al
 
all bolts for motor mounts are tight and all look to be in good shape. The clunk is coming from the drive shaft between the secondary and shaft seems to be a little slack when you move back and forth is this normal???????

Does the sled have reverse? If so the slack/clunk is normal.
 
no reverse looks like where the driven joins the shaft where the set screws are , when you rotate you can see the play whatis it???
 
you might have a bad bearing behind your secondary. take your secondary off and if it is possible pull the seal off the bearing and take a look at it. these shafts are also known to break right at that bearing as well. otherwise if everything else checks out then like mentioned above check both clutches and then pull the cover off your chain case to make sure everything is OK there. might just need to adjust your chain as well. if you grab your secondary it should only move approx 1/4" either way before the track moves. it also might be your bearing on your front driveshaft down by your right foot. just a thought.
