Need help with clutching (I think) issue on 2003 Viper ER.
I bought 2 - 2003 Viper ER stock. Put in M10 air rear susp. One has 2600miles the other 3300.
Both are stock except for the M10 susp.
The track tension etc. is same on both
Stock tracks with 90 or so studs (My guess never counted)
Anyway rode them this weekend, groomed trails, various conditions.
3300 mile sled (good sled) - Pulls hard, revs to 8500 or so very little over rev, pulls real good right up to 85 or so (never pushed passed this) very linear
2600 (Problem sled) mile sled - Pulls weak, like it is not shifting out (Secondary?), over revs - saw 9000 a few times, just does not "pull" seems like it is slipping the belt or just not shifting out to higher gear.
Both have new Yamaha belts.
Noticed on the 2600 mile sled that the primary is shiny up to about 3/4 inch of fully engaged that is the belt appears to have ridden up to about 3/4 inch of fully shifted out.
The 3300 sled is about 1 + inch from fully shifted - belt did not get nearly as high in sheaves.
The 2600 revs really fast up to close to 9000, the other 3300 mile one revs up more linear (Pulling - hard acceleration)

One other thing - When I was checking the sleds over (when I first bought them, using the Yamaha service manual) the secondary end play on one sled was 0 the other was excessive, seems to me maybe the secondaries were removed and the bolt with shims may have been mixed up. I corrected this to the specs on both sleds, but thinking maybe the secondaries were serviced at one time and ?? spring wrap not correct, some other issue?

Both have stock springs etc.

I am a clutching rookie so any guidance please.

really like the Vipers, BTW the problem sled is not slow - just does not "pull" you know the stretch the arms feeling.

Both after runs have "hot" primary sheaves and warm secondaries - I think the problem sled is probably hotter (primary) but either would burn to touch with bare fingers. Belts look the same on both - no cords - glazed? hard to say.

Thanks

Mark
