so went to go for a ride with my better half the other day and on my once over notice here clutch needs some attention found a couple small cracks on the stationary sheeve and found the weights and struck the spyder multiple times. polaris dosent use washers next to there weights so they are aloud to bounce around willy nilly.
So dished out $200 for a good used clutch then off rideing we went unloaded the sleds went to turn the key and great the battery has takken a sh*t again. so went to pull it over and ended up tearing the handle off and punching myself in the face
. luckily there was a nice 1" peice of handle left and the cord didnt get sucked in. Threw the sled in reverse backed up, back to forward and it still backs up
frigged with it and got it in to gear.

You should audition for Yamaha's 2011 promo video!
I think in Yamaha's 2008 promo video a poo rider rips the ripcord out of his sled and socks his girlfriend in the kisser! Funny vid if you've seen it I guess.

wasnt to happy and yes polaris clutch is a pos, you cant even get a wrench on the bolts to change the weights have to just bearly hold it and turn the sh*ty allen key bolt which always strips. not to mention you cant change the rollers without splitting the spider. oh and the drive belt dosnt fit between the primary and the belly pan you have to jam it and turn the primary to force it in.
Oh and almost forgot you when changing a belt you have to turn the back secondary sheeve to get the belt on. POS'
The suspention is top notch though

When we went to Maine 2 years ago my wife'd POO battery took a crap overnight. I couldn't believe how hard that damn thing was to pullstart ! that pulls twice as hard as my Viper. So I figured since her battery was dead I would start my Viper and let it run. 2 slow pulls and 1 yank in -24 degrees and mine started right up. I stopped counting after 50 pulls to get hers started. I ended up taking a break after 20 pulls and shut the Vip down. After ir did start it was so loaded up and frozen fast it wouldnt back up ! Unfortunately I do have to bend over and take it for this one, but the poo ended up towing me back because I wasted both my belts playing in the powder !
OK on the third pull you accidentally hit the kill switch & didn't notice it till #48... hehe.....
By the way do use jack stand to spin track prior to try to move sled,, will save lots of belt life.....

Friend of my Dad's had an 03 POO 600 classic with an M-10. Sweet ride. Went to start it one day around -20*C and broke the starter Armature in 2. Went to the dealer and asked for warranty. They said no and that you have to pull start the sled when it is that cold. So wtf is the point of having electric start then? Not to mention the POS blew up a year later... it was stock. Never did find a reason why.

oh yeah, i forgot about that. don't know how i could, cause that was the first thing i was bitched about, when i was rebuilding my boss' clutch, on his '03 rmk 800. i remember swearing up a storm, as my 3/8 socket wouldn't even fit on, and that hex for the allen wrench just stripped out. on one of the other bolts, when the allen wrench slipped, a spark flew off. f'en junk!! last weekend the engine went for the 5th time on that rmk pile, and now he just bought a '08 apex gt-ltx 40th anv. finally got something worth driving. take that polaris to the bone yard.

And this is why I have four Yamaha's, to ride and have fun with very little maintenance. I used to point out to my son how many green machines we could count on the trail with the hoods up being worked on vs yamaha's. The count was always alot to none! I knew someone that had a 550 poo fan and after 5 pulls you were done! I thought the rewind rope was made of Kevalar!
