Thoughts on SRX and SXR pacakge

I was told yesterday by a co-worker that his neighbor is selling his sleds. There are a 2000 sxr 700 with around 6500 miles and a 2001 srx 700 with about 4500 miles, and a drive on/off enclosed triton trailer. He is asking $5,000.00 What do you all think about the price and milage of these sleds. From what I saw they are both stock except the sxr is studded. I had a 98 srx 600 that I liked but was looking more for a newer sled with more of the rider up position chasis. Is this a worth while way to go. Also does anybody know the HP of these sleds?

The sxr and srx will have the same chassis as your 98 srx. The SXR has a long travel suspension and a single piped NO power valve motor. The 01 srx is tripple piped with power valves.
The sxr has about 110hp and the 01 srx about 148hp.

Sounds like a good deal to me but, keep in mind those won't ride anything like the newer rider forward sleds.I put a 136" m-10 under mine to get it more in line with other sleds for ride and I probably wouldn't be riding it anymore without that upgrade years back.Besides from the skidframes these are very well built sleds with chassis technology that was ahead of its time with that rigid frame.Yamaha talked about torsional rigidity before anyone else.My sled is closing in on 10,000 hard miles and has held together well.I guess it comes down to whether or not you want to tinker to make those machines what you want or if you want turn key newer sleds.

Thanks Guys, I like the power that my SRX had but never did like the suspension, that is why I was after something more modern. but also wanted to stay 2 stroke which limits me on my options. I know this is a yamaha site but I have really been looking at a ski Doo Rev. I never have like the motors thanks to may bad jets ski experiences but I here alot of good about the sleds. Any non-biased tips you can share?

ok im not exactly non biased but i think the ski doos are good sleds, my buddy has one and he loves it and has had no issues with it. its light and powerful but to me feels cheap. its almost too light for its own good and it rattles and vibrates pretty bad, but im used to my silky smooth triple. the ski doo will walk away from me in the heavy whoop sections and heavy ditch banging but anywhere else, my SRX is king, from twisting trails to flat out field riding. i closed the gap a little last year in the suspension department with the addition of a polaris IQ rear suspension in my SRX that dramaticly changed the ride comfort and travel in the rough stuff. the way i look at it is, he payed nearly 10 grand for his sled, and i have less than 3 grand into mine and i can do nearly everything he can do with his and not have a payment every month. the SRX is one of the most respected sleds in history and its for good reason, it still sets the bar for performance even though they havent even been produced since 2002. that should say alot. just my 2 pennys

An '06 or '07 rev renegade with the 600 sdi is a sweet sled, ride and handle awesome with incredible fuel economy.To me the first gen. rev were built a bit sturdier, I agree with you about the xp's being a bit too light and flimsy with some items.They made sdi before the years I listed, but the later years ran alot better after several years of development.One of my riding buddies has had one every year since '03 and these are some of his insights.
