OK I have a 98 SRX700 with V force 3 reeds. Running BR9ECS plugs. I have been told by the prevoius owner the heads have been shaved. I am running 145 psi compression on all 3 cylinders. (cold)
So what is the best jetting for this sled? I am running 42.5 pilots and it has 148.8 mains in all 3 and 1 1/8 turn out on air screw.
I just trail ride and once and awhile let her rip on the lake. Thanks for your help.
 
you should be good, have to check plugs & piston wash. Yuo may want to be careful if it gets down near 0 degrees F. You will be cutting it close at those temps.
 
thanks for the quick reply. I was wondering if I should go back to stock? I know it was 146.3 1 and 2 and 148.8 on 3 stock. It seems to have a hesitation with the 148.8's if you gave it fuill throttle at about 90 mph but if you eased into it would ok.

No such thing as a stupid question or we could all be considered stupid! LOL!

Do a search[upper right of page] and type in measuring the squish dimension with solder ...it will direct you + tell you how to do it.

Your squish measurement will give an indication of what has been done to your cylinder heads compared to stock. Just the compression guage reading is not really accurate unless we knew what that same guage recorded prior to the head mods.

Should be running higher octane fuel with shaved heads.. just a thought..
 
remove a spark plug. cut 2 pieces of solder & bend each to a rt. angle ( each angle must be long enough to touch the cylinder when inserted in plug hole ). insert both pieces of solder opposite each other @ the left & rt. ends of the piston pin. turn clutch to compress solder. measure the compressed end of the solder with a caliper. stock is around .062.

Ok I measured the squish and it is at .056 on all three. Besides the obvoius of taking the cylinders off how would I tell if I had thicker base gaskets?
