Okay, I got it out. Dosen't seem bad, I know to replace anyway while its out. But now I have still not found a reason for the noise. The other bearings seem okay. Do the two in the chain case get lubed from the gear oil or are they sealed, should replace them all while I have it this far apart? I didnt take the chain case housing off yet, but I do have the cover off and chain and gears removed.
I have not changed those bearing in my sled so I don't have any experience but if you can change them then I would change them, like you said its apart already you might as well get er done.
After you put this thing back together, if the noise still appears then provide the following information.
when does the noise appear ?
When you accelerate
When you decelerate
Is it a constant noise when driving around at the same speed
Does the noise get worse as speed increases
Does the sled feel like it is hesitating on acceleration
Does the sled go through a lot of belts
I had a problem with my Polaris ratcheting on acceleration, I looked at the drive cogs and they seemed ok, a little worn but... I had also tried tightening the track before cog replacement. Sure enough after I replaced the drive cogs the ratcheting went away completely. I'm not saying to replace the drive cogs but make sure they are in very good condition.

Thanks, I will let you know in about a week or so how it turns out, after the parts come in and I get it all back together.
Has the primary clutch been off recently ? I had this happen to me once . I had the clutches off for service and had to stop to work on somthing else . I never gave it a thought but my hands had some grease on them and I must have transfered a little to either the crankshaft or the hole in the clutch . Ended up with a noise that sounded like the track ratcheting . It was the only thing I had done to it so I pulled the primary back off and you could see where it had been turning on the shaft . Cleaned it all back up again and the noise went away . Just somthing to look at .

Did you check the jackshaft bearing.....the one right in back of the secondary clutch? I just replaced one for a friend of mine, his was doing the same thing. I thought it was going to be a bad driveshaft bearing but it turned out to be an excessively worn jackshaft bearing.

I just bought a 03 viper a few days ago and it was doing the exact same thing as yours at low speed. i checked and adjusted everything, still the same. finnaly took clutch cover off and held hood open while i drove real slow, saw primary clutch engaging and disengaging causing a clunking or track ratchet feeling. cleaned up my primary clutch today and no more problem. didnt have clutch removal tool i just took spring cover off and cleaned as best i could. hope this helps you.

Dont know if you read my tread earlier this weekend but the bearing let go on the driveshaft chaincase side and caused the exact same noise you are refering to,have everthing apart right now and will be putting it back together this weekend, had to get a friend of mine to pull the besring off clutch side so much work for a four doller bearing.

Well, for anyone who read thru all this, it ended up being a bad drive belt. Duh! Figured there was nothing else to try after replacing the bearings and the noise still being there, so I installed a new drive belt, and Wallah, knocking noise was gone.
