you can !!!! make sure you jet fr it , especially on the needle circuit ..
The extra timing is in the midrange, so you need to make sure you have the needles right.

yep , if your a regular joe trailrider , than sell the 600 box and get a 700 8dn-00 , someone may even trade you , it all depends on the application , the 700's are plenty fast and reliable with there stock box ,
the needles are in the stock position they are the original 600 carbs, I changed the pilot jets to 42.5 and the main jets to 142.5 for 1@2 145 for#3 we usually do not ride below 10 degrees Im I running to lean
I'm running a 600 box in my 780. It likes the extra timing, but the fuel mileage has suffered due to my needle setting. I could lean it out a touch but I get into trouble when it comes off the mains and goes to the needles.

600/700 carbs same thing , mains seem awfully small to me , move your needle shim to the bottom 1/2 postion , 1 position to be safe if you wish ,
I have both boxes 600 and 700 it seems to run well with the 600 box I have not tried the 700 box we are running a 98 SRX700 we have, against it to check how it runs, it seems the modified 600 is stronger on the bottom to mid,but not on the big end

no the 98 700 has the 700 box and 99 600 modified to a 700 has the 600 box still on it

doubt it
your 99 former 600 will likely have 23-39
and
98 /700 likely 23/38
thats were its out acclerating the other and loosing on the big end

The 98 700 has some porting and Hauk clutching on the secondary for shure it says Hauk on it but I am not shure about the primary,it's the way I bought,I put the cylinders on it,I bought the whole topend from Gates,it runs strong
witch one would have more top end
