Replace sliders on 2000 SRX 700

I have to change mine tonight, anyone know the easiest way to do this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
 
NO, GET THEM OUT BACK OF TRACK ENOUGH TO GRAB THEM WITH VISE GRIPES. THAN HIT GRIPS WITH HAMMER. THEY WILL WALK RIGHT OFF. 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
get a 3 inch dry wall screw and a slike hammer ....screw into back of slider ....gota get it straight tho .....and hammer away .....sometimes they can be stuck on the rail .....get 3/4 of a inch of screw in slider and you will be good to go .....than use a small amount of dawn dish soap and they will slide rite back on ......
 
don't forget the screws at the front first :-) I use an air chisel but a hammer and a block of wood works well too. I usually makes some cuts in the top of the new ones to make it easier to curve around the front.
 
Thanks guys, I got them on, and went for a ride, everything seems perfect!!!! I'll tell ya, I am not the most mechanical guy in the world, but this site certainly has helped me figure out how to do some things myself.... Next, I am on to the carbs, I read the tech page, and love the pics... I actually think I can do this!!! Have a great night folks
 
It was eay on mine, there was a chunk out of one up in the front of the rail. I think I noticed in the service manual that if there is 3mm or more wear that you should replace. They are really inexpensive $13 each, and I was told to replace both at the same time. I believe that the reason for the one of mine being tore up had to do with the securing screw at the front had snapped. Once I got the new ones on I used self tapping screws to hold in place, but you need to be very careful to put them in and make sure they are straight. Easy enough fix though...
