Hi everyone,
My 2000 SRX with 1,500 miles on it is currently at the sled shop for the "pre-season" service (except that I rode it already!). I spoke with them and they said the sled is in great shape and everything was in great shape. I asked about doing a coolant change, and they said that it is not needed? However they did a chain case oil change?
I am almost sure that the coolant is original. Is it hard (read:expensive) to change the coolant? Should it be done? What kind of coolant does my sled take?

Thanks,
Zack

my dealer says not necessary, aluminum compatable is required, there is a procedure to draining and filling

So then how does the coolant ever get changed, if there is no procedure?

Thanks,
Zack

you shouldn't need to replace it for quite a long time. the only time i replaced the coolant in my 98 is when i did the top end. it had 13000km (approx 7000miles)at the time.

There is a bleed screw under the seat. And to answer your next question there are two 10 or 12 mm nuts located in the storage compartment that you need to take out before you can take the seat off. There are also snaps at the front of the seat.

I change the coolant on my sleds and road bikes every other season. Use a quality coolant, easy to do, cheap insurance against corrosion.
