srx speed?

update!!

i drew a line on the drive clutch and went for a ride. did a few wfo runs and hit 90.6 mph. before i went to ride i changed the secondary wrap to 80 and with it like that my clutches are HOT!! changing the wrap to 80, my rpms went to 8500 and dropped to 8000. before when it was set at 70 the rpms stayed at 8500. the width of my belt is 1.35" so its still within specs. from the line i drew i can see the belt has 0.320" to go until the top of the belt is flush with the top of the drive clutch.

it seem ok to me hard to see the pic but it seem good ...make sure those power valve are clean and work properly.....

i checked the power valves about a month ago and they looked good but it wont hurt to check them again. the trails are pretty much shot around here anyway.

any other opinions on what to do?
 
i was looking over my clutches and i notices my offset is at about 12mm. im using an external deflection adjuster. so even though im using that i would still need the offset to be 15mm right? i aslo noticed the belt isnt centered in the primary. its touching the engine side sheave. i know my offset isnt right, could this be why im not seeing higher speed?
 
ok today i checked the power valves. they werent that bad but i cleaned them any way. i tried adjusting them but the servo wheel kept turning so i held the wheel and adjusted them the best i could, 2.5mm. i also put a shim on the jackshaft behind the secondary so my offset is i think it was 14.8 mm. went for a ride and just from those changes got 1 mph more to make 91.6mph
 
UPDATE new top speed 94.5mph. went for a ride tonight little cooler out and it ripped pretty good.
 
Boy something is still not right...my 600 ran better than that last time I was out with a broken powervalve!! Although it was about 10* F
 
How much distance should it take to top out? I have been running right around 1000' it pulls hard and gets to 90 real fast
 
I don't quite understand how the servo wheel kept moving and you had troubles. I have done this several times and didn't have the servo move. I am not a very good wrench at all, but unless something was sloppy in the servo I can't see it moving.

My fat arse had my 2001 SRX hauling 105 on the dream o meter on semi OK trails Saturday. Someone we were riding with thought I must have went off trail because she couldn't believe there was no trace of me on the trail ahead of them. When I told her I held it at 105 for quite a ways....she said, yeah right.

Mark the servo and make sure it didn't move during each valve setting. With the servo cover off make sure you see it move when you idle down to 900 RPM's too.

8500 RPM's doesn't sound too bad and I doubt you are still spinning the track at that point on the long run. I don't know anything about clutching, so you have me swinging there. Stock should be running better. Did it run a way lot better at one time with this setup?
 
I was running down the river after my buddy on his nytro and had 102 on the dream-o-meter and got back home and had 95.6 on the gps! Can't wait to get her back out with a new valve. We ran between 75 and 95 for 30 miles.. it was a blast, like being on the autobahn.

I guess that means I need to adjust my thinking. That's kicking butt on two and a half cylinders! :rockon:

How do you use your GPS on the fly? I have a nice RAM handlebar mount that I currently have on my Grizzly. I am afraid to mount my Garmin on the Sleds because I froze one up in a pickup truck I owned and I really don't want to trash another because of cold. I do carry it on my belt in case I have to come back and trailer a sled.

i did idle the motor down to 900 rpm and the servo opened. i also marked the open position. after it shut it off and marked the open position i loosend the two bolts at the valves and turned the adjusters at the servo all the way in. i put a 2.5mm allen wrench in between the housing at the valve and turned the adjuster at the servo and the servo would move if i didnt hold it.

i dont believe its a power valve problem. does anyone have a suggestion as to how long of a run it will take to top out?

also on my dream-o-meter when it says 100 mph im going roughly 95 mph.

i would like to get a mount for my gps but for now its just around my neck or looped around the bars.
