A little Viper help

Hey guys im looking at an 02 viper, trade for my 99 srx 600 plus i get a lil cash. Only one problem it has one bad crank bearing, Now he says that all 3 jugs and pistions are good and the other 2 rods are fine. What would be the damage for me and tips and deal or no deal?? Thanks guys
 
Rebuilding the engine with OEM parts is the best way to go, according to popular opion here. The parts are not cheap. Get a tech or someone who knows to take a look and see what the engine may require to get it running again. Price it out. After that, the math will be easy.
 
okay the guy is a few hrs away from me. he said that parts would be 150 not sure tho ?? and plus someone that can split the case and put it back together from there i can put the top end back together.

I would run the other way! I have a Viper in the garage with engine problems and trust me, you don't want to deal with bad crank bearings. If the guy is so eager to make the trade plus some cash he must know he has a lemon.
 
I just did my Viper crank and one of the bearings was gone. Cost about 400 canadian. Chances are something is gone on the top end if the crank bearing went. Just giving my opinion and veiw from experience....
 
He told me that all the main bearings are good just the one rod brearings are bad and said top end is good

If thats the case, it makes you wonder why he doesn't get it fixed himself, he would make out a lot better money wise if he fixed it then sold it. Just hope you don't end up with an expensive fix. Good luck
 
yeah idk he said he wants a sled to ride now and no time idk ill take a goood look at her its one of those things i want a viper anyways....if i do get it at least ik how the whole motor is.... and thanks i think im gonna do it. viper is fast then my 99 srx 600 right???
 
Just make sure that some of those needle bearings didnt either A: crack the case or score it really bad, or B: Get in the top end. Both of those had happened to my Viper when I got it.
