add shims for clutch engagement

remove the 6 bolts that hold the primary spring on & put the shims in the spring cup, put the cover back on. be careful & loosen the bolts evenly or the spring pressure will want to kink the cover on the shaft. can use up to 3 shims.

not on all springs. some springs can't use any, as they already want to coil bind the way they are. some can only use 1 or 2 shims. also, remember that by adding shims to increase engagement, you are going to increase your max rpms too, by increasing the full shift out force of the spring. just a few things to keep in mind.

my engagement is 3800 and wot is 8200 want to raise it to about 4000 and 8400 and not sure where the shims actually go never really played with clutch's but am very mech inclined any info would help

liked mentioned above, remove the 6 bots holding the cover, remove cover and spring, place your 1-2 shims in the bottom then replace your spring and cover. make sure you line up the X in both the cover and the sliding sheave. you should see an X on the back side of the cover after you remove it. i always use a marker and mark the top so that it is easier to put back in. it's tuff to see the X in the spider when the clutch is still mounted on the sled.

under the spring where it sits on spider? and shims are what size and where do you get them

yes, shims go on top of spyder, right where the spring seats against it. engagement shims can be purchased from a number of places, in different thicknesses......

hauck powersports
goodwin performance
bender racing....maybe???
aaen performance....maybe???

you might wanna list what you have in your sled now so the clutch experts can help you, like primary spring, weights, and secondary and also for what sled you have. You can also get your engagement up by putting a different spring in
