Yeah you could be right. It has stock 42.5 pilot stock needle setting. 150 148.8 148.8 mains. stock fuel screw settings. It has a high idle but has been fouling plugs. I have been using Klotz.
Really! I was running 45/152.5 with my old trail porting. Needle lowered one notch. I'm running more now with the case porting and lake port and pipes.
your lean. on my ported '01 srx w/drilled airbox, i run 45 pilots, 1-1/4 turns on fuel screws, needles at stock 3.0 height, 155 mains on pto/center and 153.8 on mag. plugs look fine and so does my piston wash. i'm safe down to 0*F. i have no idle hang what so ever. i HATE klotz oil, other than the smell.
oh, i never fouled 1 plug ever, on this sled either. i run yamalube.
All black on top is LEAN...thats why you've been eroding the exhaust side piston dome. [pull the cylinders and check the other pistons as well]
Odd for a 2002 SRX with DCS that it let that happen???
I will bet you have caught it early enough that all you will need to replace is the piston + rings.
I would start at 152.5s[vents out of airbox] after the repairs, put the needles in position 3 with both plastic washers under the clip[most sleds melt down part throttle because of lean needle settings] and keep a close eye on it...make sure that DCS system is working, carbs are clean + good fuel.
If the shelf with the tubes has been removed from the airbox...put it back in.
