i doubt you could spin the driveshaft and track with that gear by hand, spin your track by hand and see if your bottom gear moves..
while your in there, might not be a bad idea to check your bearings as well, both sides of the driveshaft and jackshaft

I agree check your bearings. When I take my chaincase apart, there's usually oil on the tensioner and both gears. Yours looks pretty dry, although I can see the oil in the belly pan. You might not have had enough oil. How much mileage does the sled have?
