spend all of my time fixing other peoples problems , c'ant fix my own!!!!
Built a new engine for my sled this year , and its probably the best one i have built (yet to be proven ) , i first took it out a couple of weeks ago and started working on the jetting 150/150/148 rich...clip 3/12.rich.. p37.5 pilots lean and it was running awsome pulled 115 short of 2000ft. 3 passes all the same .
So last Sat it started doing funky s***t... It would run 8300rpm @105mph all day long but if i pushed the throttle anymore it would just die off .... i mean die like instent water on a fire
On Sun , we went to the gun ,(never got to run) and it was starting to do it @ lower rpm , by the time i got to my driveway i could not go more than 5000rpm .. pulled the carb bowls off everything looked ok , pulled the reeds out (carbon fiber ) everything looked ok so i pulled the heads and everything looked ok . So i put everything back together and put a new rack of coils on and on the road i go asphalt and all ( im so pissed by now i d'ont give a s***t) and voila 8900rpm ... wtf.. where did all these rpm come from?
Monday morning i take her down to dump road add 2 grams to the tip and @8300 rpm ( a litlle to heavy) 117mph , im pretty happy right........

last night 50 mile ride and she would only run on the low needle circuit and wot ... in between that blawwwwwwwwwwwww
Is my crank out of phase ?
carbs needles screwed up?

I am just going with a shot in the dark but what about the cdi? Would that be intermittent like you are explaining?

No i mean was stator,and all coils checked out for Torrance,Ohms.?
this on your 600 srx?

sounds like your clutch doesnt work properly to me ......... but if the engine die not sure sure it come from clutch

have not checked the stator yet , coils .....i put a whole new rack on !!

i got a spare (stator) one aswell , thing is i got no other electrical issue , headlight tack ,warmers , brights , tail light , brakes all a-1 , i thought last night when i got off the brights to dim..... it would not act up as much but , i might have been hopefull ,

I don't blame you on the beer....first things first!!!LOL What all did you do to the engine? 117 is that gps or dream-o-meter?

isnt there a seperate side of the stator that runs the lights, warmers, etc ?? I thought the spark came from a seperate wire, I guess what I'm asking is the sled will run without the accessories and lights working????

When I was still drag racing my Mod 81 SRX I had this type of issue more the once with seperate reasons + solutions.
1] CDI: I had an intermittent CDI issue...it would occassinally get hung up in the full retard mode, don't know why or how it happened but a new CDI cured the problem.[ I ended up mounting the CDI box on the Rad shroud with a 7 pin trailer plug so I could quickly swap between 4 different CDIs]
2] broken motor mount[rubber seperated inside]...this was a hard one to track down. One run the sled would run great, the very next run it would be a dog, clutching was very inconsistant until I fixed it with very hard after market mounts.
I also would check/swap the stator as I beleive it was at least one of the reasons my 2002 SRX was [but not anymore!!] an underperformer since it was new.

also take a look at the pulse line from crankcase to fuel pump. had a piped 700sxr sometimes down on power and no amount of part replacement or beer could fix it. buffalo bob pointed us in the right direction.
it's not something dumb like the tors acting up? It could drop the rpm's....just make sure the throttle cable isn't too tight.

Tony, Daman, vince changed the cdi box to a higher timing curve down the center and dropped the needles to position 3 from 3.5 and chaged the belt and rode 100miles to Cartier , it was still a dog mostly until the temp droped a bit from 34f to32f...
Sunday went to the gun 2500 ft or so , and it run 114.6mph flat out with no surges .....but it's still not all that good
stator looks likes its next ..hope you guys are right ...
