Clutching A Viper On A Budjet.

try 2 ...4.5 grams in the stock weight. I am also hearing that a single layer can be used on a viper....anyone else know of this???? Never tried this yet...
 
Why would turk suggest a 53/45 when the tech page he suggested a 53/43?After reading the above posts im starting to wonder if i just wasted 120.00.Has anyone on here tried a stock viper with the 53/43 combo?How did it work?
 
I am running with one layer removed with no problems, i am leaning to removing second but not quite sure yet.
 
I am so confused now. This post is so full of different opinions. What do you mean by layers ? I am just going to add a 4.5 gram rivet to the tip with my stock helix and springs. I can't go wrong can I ?

Im sure it will work well as alot of people have run that setup and are happy with it...dont sweat it.

BTW.. everybody that you talk to will have different thoughts on what to run clutching wise, there are infinite DIFFERENT clutching combinations that could realistically work well on your sled.
 
either of those helixes will work just fine. I used a 52/44 with good results. I would probably go with the 53/43 over the 53/45 myself, because it will backshift a little bit better. They will be so close though that most people wouldn't even know the difference. The 45 finish angle will just shift out SLIGHTLY quicker on top end. Use the green spring, not silver unless you are doing short runs. The "layers" that the others were talking about are headgasket layers, and you shouldn't pull any out at sea level. Up in the moutains at higher alt. it is okay because compression is down, but not very safe at sea level.

for clutching there are a lot of options that will increase performance. adding weight to the primary is one and changing the helix is another. a lot of people prefer tuning the primary, but there is nothing wrong with a helix swap either. it depends how much work you want to do. the helix takes 15 minutes and works well. there are a few helixes that will work. another one suggested is an advant edge 48-40. every company cuts them different so pick a company then ask for a specific cut. by layers people are talking about the head gasket. they are made from a few layers of steel and removing a layer increases compression and makes more power. a lot of people dont suggest it on a viper though. edit. well yamahalic beat me, but he knows his stuff more than i do!
