So I have had my sled out (97 Vmax SX 700) for 2 small trips (60 miles and 50miles) and am getting right around 14-15 mpg canadian (12 mpg US). Not sure if this is usual for these sleds but thats what I am getting (I tend to get on the throttle pretty hard, love accelerating). I notice after going WOT it tends to have a little hesitation after getting back on the throttle normal. It almost acts like its leftover fuel in the carbs and then you have to give it a quick pump on the throttle and its fine. It also seems to have a little pop/burble below 7000rpm but after that its as smooth as anything. It almost reminds me of rice crispy's. I have read about people going with smaller jetting and that helped but not sure what people have to say about how my sled is acting. This is my first triple so I'm still getting used to the way they act and the sled loves to scream, seems the more it revs the more it pulls. Its about the same acceleration down low as the Rev 600 HO we have but seems to have a little more top end. Anyways, the sleds carbs were done this spring and the sled was gone over and it does run good. Idles and starts great and loves to rev. Just looking for a little insight from people with a little more experience with the triples.
reed spacers would help it out alot
