Curring a slow sled is not as easy as it may sound...I just spent over 2 years tracking down and curing my 2002 SRXs performance issue.
For a slow sled you will have to take a systematic approach to find + cure the problem and I would suggest it is not just one problem! We also have to realize 100 mph isn't that slow for most sleds, LOL !, but it is an SRX!
When the stock SRXs were running 110mph+ remember they were all relatively new, and had light weight, flexible 7/8" tracks. Adding bigger lug tracks, longer travel and just normal wear will scrub off a lot of speed.
Top speed is an indication of Horse Power, if the engine is down on its power for any reason it won't pull on the high end, and acts like it hits a wall at a given speed.
Possible Engine issues:

-if the engine has not been reringed it probably needs it
-also the 1998/99 SRXs had a crank phaze issue, it needs to be checked!
-weak stator output
-improper jetting
Other possible causes + things to check:

-worn belt or improper belt tension...if the belt sits too low in the secondary the sled will not shift out properly
-worn out clutches will bind and create huge performance losses
-engine + clutch allignment
-broken motor mounts... a broken motor mount will throw off engine allignment and can cause belt wear and really hurts top end
-ski allignment...toe in especially really hurts top end
-worn sliders
-track tension allignment...the track should be set only tight enough to stop ratcheting
-suspension settings...if the front limiter straps are out too far it really creates a lot of friction between the sliders + the track and hurts on the high end...a lot
-friction is the enemy of top speed so every bearing in the sled has to be in top condition...especially the jack shaft, drive shaft, and chain case bearings
When you come up against some sled on the lake you never know what he may have done to it...whats on the hood a lot of time means very little. To know how your sled is really performing you have to be comparing apples to apples.
Take the older F7 Cats...they have been around long enough that they have definately needed to be rebuilt and it is so simple to make them an 800 that any owner would be amiss not to do it when rebuilding! So be very suspicious of any F7 thats been taking everyone on.
