I am currently running a loaded 8DN20 setup that is working pretty well but i picked up a set of H/H 52 gram empty, loaded to 60 gram. Is there any benefit of switching to these weights other than tunability, do they have a better ramp angle or anything. Is there a stock yami spring that would work with these. also going to try a 54/46 dalton, but one thing at a time.

to see ramp comparison, put weights on top of one another, w/pin thru the pin hole to "align" the weights together, and you'll see the difference. there are probably a bunch of OEM springs that work w/heavy hitters. i used the Y/W/Y on my viper w/HH's. adjustability is a breeze w/these weights.

i was hoping you would chime in. I got them used from a 780 sled so maybe a little heavy to start, 60 grams total. I also think i need the pin bushings out of the other clutch, am i correct? I'm running YWY with my 8dn 20's so I will try that. What do you think about that 54/46 dalton, looks to be a common helix. I understand the weight placement with the bolts but what is tuned with the allen screw.??

I run HHs on my SRX as well. All of my sleds either have HHs or Thunder Shift weights for the tuning capabilities.
The allen screw in the heel primarily effects the engagement and initial launch RPM...mine are usually empty. The HHs I use are for Yamahas so they just bolt right in like any Yamaha weight would.
I am running a total of 58.6 grams in my SRX with an O/S/O spring...but I also run Team secondaries.

do you have the 8mm holes on weights, or 1/4"? if you have 1/4" holes, then you have ones meant for a polaris or cat. dont worry, theyll still work, just need pin conversion kit. i ran 61.6g on '00 srx stocker, but not with 54/46 helix. never tried hh's with that helix. i wanted to play around with them and stock 47 helix. i just might do that tonight....lol.

i also run heavy hitters. mine are the 50g polaris, cat weights. i have 3.3 in the heel and 8.5 in the tip. with the 150/300 hh black spring it engages at 5000 and wide open it runs 8500 all day. i use a 56/40 helix and a yamaha green wrapped to 70. but i think somwhere i could be clutched better cause i only see 94.5 mph?

try emptying the heel and moving some of that tip weight to the middle

by taking my 3.3 out of the heel wouldnt my engagement change? i used to have 2.6 in the mid but it was too much with the 8.5 so i emptied the mid and my revs were spot on so how much would you reccomend moving from the tip to the mid? thanks for the suggestion i wish i would have thought of trying that yesterday.

mine last year were 53.3 base, heel empty, 2.6 mid, 5.6 tip. with the 150/300, 54/46, green wrapped @ 70. my engagement was the same as yours is now and had no problem getting to 110 on gps and i'm about 250lbs

X2...A pulled through Power Valve can fool you sometimes because the cable still will have tension on it because of the springs.
You have to actually pull the valves out and check them to ensure there are no pull throughs.

I don't run an SRX. I have a Viper as most know on here but my Dad and myself have run them for years on our 2002's and I absolutely love them. Once you have them dialed you are set. Much more flexabilty and no rivets to pound out. My machinist buddy at work has a 1998 SRX 600 that he could never quite get ahold of. His uncle is a Yamaha mechanic and gave him vitually every weight spring combo in Yamaha's archives and he could never get what he wanted. Great bottom end.....then no top end or vice versa. I finally talked him into the HH's and man does that thing run good now. The best it has ever run and it now has over 13,000 miles on it. One note...they run best with a straight angle helix. You can run a multi helix for specific drag racing applications but in the trails you will want the straight angle one in it for backshifting with the stock secondary.

ok i emptied my heel and put 4.2 g in mid and 7g in tip. it seems to pull a lot harder through the midrange now but ill have to wait till my belt is broke in to find out how the top end changed.

just when i thought i had the clutching set didnt even get the new belt broke in. i foung two cracks in the movable sheave. good news i found another primary from a member onsite.
