Took off exhaust, and reused exhaust gasket when I reinstalled three into one header pipe. I started it today and I think it sounds like I have a leak(a little tick). But it could be just my imagination! Going riding up north this weekend if it is a small leak would that harm anything or just be annoying? :o|

to be safe i would pull apart and get a tube of sealant and make sure to plug any leaks. Don't want to risk running a little lean because of a exhaust leak. Not to mention all the oil that ends up under to hood and on everything.

I had the same problem when I put my SLP can on. Go to your local Yamaha dealer and grab a tube of Yamabond high temp silicone. It's about $15 for a tube. Its cheaper than a new gasket and you can always use it again.

i would think any leak would lean it out. even a little is not good. not sure what people think of muffler cement, but its cheap, like $4 a tube, and worked very well on my truck to fix some small leaks

Can any exhaust leak from the power valves? Didn't replace those gaskets either after cleaning them. Is there anyway to tell if there's an exhaust leak & I'm not just hearing things?

Aside from oil residue which is usually a sign, have someone put a shop rag over the exhaust outlet while it's running and look/listen for the leak. It should be more pronounced with the added back pressure. If you let it cool down before trying this, you can run your bare hand under the pipe/flange/powervalve areas to feel for the leak before the pipes get too hot.
