...Yup....
Housing also is mounted with the weep hole on the bottom,,, nob on top...
Im the owner of this sled my internet has been off for a week... but along with all my buddys posts also tongith we started hearing a horible knocking noise after giving it a little gas plus was kinda shaking so does that mean a bent rod or does this mean rebuilding each cylinder? we are just having the worst luck with this problam thing idled fine last night after we tried getting as much mud outa the crankscase idled right at 1500 then wen we started it tonight it wouldnt idle and sounded horible with a knocking noise and vibration in the engine

I thought I saw them going in angled side down - but I'll have to double check with him.
If the powervalves are installed right, what could this be?
sideshowbob, it literally drips out as it tries to idle and when we blip the throttle.

Have you done a compression test on this engine? If not, do one and ensure you are not dealing with a broken or holed piston.
The Knocking is not good, as it indicates a mechanical issue.

also is there a gas shut off on these 01 srxs? just curious for next time we jack up the sled.
No there is not.. pull supply line and stick golf tee in it........

jacking up sled should not effect anything, i would look at the float needle@seats and the tank vent and make sure exhaust is clear my 2 cents and that chocks are seating

I'd have to agree (hey, it's a new year - kinder, gentler).
I've had many sleds jacked way up before I got a sled lift and never had any flooding issues. If it was on it's lid or on it's side perhaps but I've never seen jacking up the front or rear cause flooding.
If rear of sled is way up in the air you can have a siphon effect and fill crank up with gas.....

any chance the float bowl nut (17mm) is loose , or o ring broke , and or drain screw (phillips ) is loose , sled would run but not too good and would dump fuel in the belly pan aswell ?????

The shudder and sludge make me think burnt piston or broken rings. You may have to pull your heads off or get a really strong flashlight and remove the plugs. But why would it start running good again?
I'm wondering does it sound like it's starving for fuel when you throttle it or does it sound like the engine is choked off struggling to push through something when you gun it?
Any way, I am sure your plugs are fouled with sludge dripping out of the exhaust. It's gotta be frequent cleanings to keep her running. I'm really intrigued about this one. Keep us posted.
oh, and donkey...nice name.

Last night it almost sounded like it was running on two cylinders. It has a really nasty throaty sound to it...it sounds like a Chevy Corsica with no exhaust on it.
It ran fine until we jacked up the *** end...it was about 3 1/2 feet up in the air, maybe a little higher. It literally ran and idled fine on his trailer the initial night we worked on it, jacked up the *** and then it ran like crap. We cleaned the powervalves, checked the carbs etc, put it all back together and it sounded good again and idled once again. Sat overnight, started it again and bam, runs like garbage again with sludge dripping from the powervalves.
My plan of attack is this:
Pull powervalves, clean and make sure they are installed correct.
Remove pipes, check for gas/sludge/blockage again.
Remove exhaust can, check for gas/sludge/blockage.
Compression Test
Replace spark plugs.
Check for spark on all 3 plugs.
If problems still persist: Ride to lake. Find open water. Push into open water. Go home. Save for another sled. HAHA!
Oh and yes, clever name it is haha!

I'm now thinking that you have the floats stuck in your carbs or the needle valve mis-aligned. You are probably flooding out.
Once you clean the crap out of everyting it runs good until you load down with gas because the carbs are over-filling and dumping fuel at too high a rate. Tipping it may have caused the needle to come out of alignment with the hole. You still have to clean everything again, but definately check the carbs.
Also could have had debris or dirt get clogged in the fuel path or air path that is binding. You are certainly dumping fuel (sludge), but why. Look to the carbs.
Good luck.

Some times it can be as stupid as a plugged vent line!
All I'm saying is that sometimes the obvious can be overlooked!

Compression test results. 110 95 95. Powervalves installed correct. Gas in muffler, not much though.

Pulled heads... 2 cylinders have chunks out of them on the front by the power valves.
